My Confession
Ch 1
December 2005
Kayte and Rich walked into the studio in Orlando. Nick was sitting at the controls half asleep. ‘Hey Rich, how have you been?’ ‘He’s been better. Rich is lucky the doctor cleared for him to come down here for a week.’ Kayte said taking a seat on the couch. ‘Rich, man, if your not doing good you could have said no.’ Nick said looking at Kayte nervously. ‘I need a break from the hospital and doctors.’ Rich said taking a seat next to Nick. ‘Let’s see what you have.’ Rich said taking the notebook that was in front of Nick and started looking at it. Kayte’s cell phone started ringing and she walked into the hallway to answer it. ‘Hey Kerrie, how’s the hunny moon?’ Kayte asked happily. ‘Great, are you guys in Orlando?’ ‘Yea, Rich just passed the exam.’ ‘At least he’s taking care of himself.’ ‘That’s true. How is Aruba?’ ‘Beautiful, how long are you guys going to be there?’ ‘About a week. Why?’ ‘I was thinking Corie and I could stop by for a little while on our way home.’ ‘That would be great. I haven’t seen you guys in two weeks.’ ‘Who is Rich working with?’ ‘Nick after the BSB tour in Europe he wants to release a CD with a band.’ ‘Ok, I’ll give you a call tomorrow and let you know what time we’ll be getting in.’ ‘Have fun.’ ‘See you later.’ ‘Bye.’ Kayte clicked off her phone and walked back into the studio. ‘Who was that?’ ‘The love birds, they might stop by for a little while.’ ‘Nick, do you remember Kayte’s older sister, Kerrie? That’s who we’re talking about.’ Rich said going back to the notebook. ‘Didn’t she say the love was for fools?’ Nick said after a few minutes. ‘Yup, then she started seeing Corie. She went to elementary school with his younger brother.’ ‘Is she still a teacher?’ ‘Yup and he’s an ironworker/model.’ ‘Nick, let’s work with this one.’ ‘I’ll let you two get to work. See you later.’ Kayte headed out the door and to the rental car. Nick and Rich worked the rest of the day on his songs. The next day Nick and his band were going to start recording some songs. Two days later Kayte picked up Corie and Kerrie at the airport. Kerrie and Kayte looked noting like sisters. Kayte had dark brown hair and eyes with a dark complexion. Kerrie had red hair and blue eyes with a pale complexion. Kayte was a model for French Connection and Bebe. She and Rich met at a charity event in Boston 6 years ago and had been together over 4 years. Rich was battling leukemia and Kayte was the one keeping him grounded. ‘How’s the recording doing?’ Corie asked putting their bags into the car. ‘Good, they have a few songs done and a few left to do.’ ‘Are we gonna stop by the studio?’ Kerrie asked as they left the airport. ‘If you guys want to.’ ‘Yea, that’d be fun.’ Corie said. About 15 minutes later they pulled up to the studio. They got out of the car and went inside. Corie took a hold of Kerrie’s hand as they entered the studio. ‘Hey guys.’ Rich said from his spot at the control board. ‘Guys let’s take a break.’ Rich said into a speaker and the group of guys came out of the recording booth. ‘Have you guys seen Nick?’ Rich asked. ‘He went to get a drink.’ ‘Guys this is my sister, Kerrie and her husband Corie. This is Ben, Chris, Will, and Rob they are Nick’s band.’ Kayte said before they left the room.

Ch 2
About 10 minutes later Rich and Kayte took them on a tour of the studio and they found Nick flirting with a receptionist. ‘Hey Kerrie, haven’t seen you in awhile.’ Nick said giving her a bear hug. ‘How have you been?’ Kerrie asked. ‘Good, this must be Corie. Your one lucky guy.’ Nick said shaking his hand. Nick felt the butterflies in his stomach that he got every time he was around her. Rich introduced him to Kerrie when BSB were on tour in Boston in 2000 before he was even dating Kayte. Kerrie was just starting college and Kayte was still in high school. Kayte was recently in an LFO video and Kerrie’s friends wanted to go to the BSB tour. Kerrie had caught Nick’s eye right away. He loved her hair color and she had a great smile. She was very shy and didn’t start to open up until she met him again visiting Rich and Kayte in Florida 2 years later. Rich was having a birthday party for Kayte at his house in Orlando. Brad was hitting on Kerrie and she didn’t look to happy to be having him around so Nick went over and managed to steal her away. ‘Thanks so much.’ She said half smiling. ‘Anytime, Brad doesn’t take hints does he?’ ‘I came out and said I wasn’t interested and he still wouldn’t leave me alone.’ She said following Nick into the kitchen. ‘Do you have a boyfriend?’ ‘Naww... I don’t have time. Taking six classes and working part time is enough for me.’ ‘Wow that is a lot.’ ‘I need to stay busy or my friends will get me into trouble.’ She said laughing. ‘Are you guys taking a break?’ ‘Getting ready to go back into the studio to finish some stuff up.’ ‘That’s cool.’ They talked for a little while until Kayte took her off to meet some of her model friends. The next day Kayte, Rich, Nick and Kerrie went out of Nick’s boat in the morning. ‘They look happy together.’ Nick said after they stopped the boat. Kayte and Rich was joking around in the water. ‘I’m glad their finally together. They are a cute couple.’ Kerrie said going threw her bag trying to find a book. ‘Aren’t you going to relax?’ Nick asked chuckling as she sat down with a book. ‘I am relaxing, this isn’t for school.’ She said putting her sunglasses back on. ‘So your going to leave me to swim with the happy couple?’ Nick asked sticking out his bottom lip. ‘Maybe.’ She said half smiling as she turned the page. ‘Come on, please.’ He said sitting down next to her. ‘Alright, I guess I could go swimming for a little while.’ ‘Great.’ Nick said tossing off his shirt and jumping over the side into the water. Kerrie tossing her tank top and shorts over to the side then went and jumped into the water. ‘This is nice.’ She said treading water. Nick didn’t say anything he just watched her swim around. About 20 minutes later they all got back on the boat and resumed the trip. Kayte and Kerrie were sitting at the front of the boat trying to catch some sun. ‘You like her don’t you?’ Rich asked laughing. ‘I don’t know...’ ‘You haven’t taken your eyes off her all afternoon.’ ‘She is really cool.’ ‘Good luck to yea, Kayte said she’s very serious about school and she doesn’t want to get distracted.’ ‘Distracted?’ ‘She thinks dating is a distraction. I guess she only dated one guy in high school and that was it.’ ‘Maybe I can change her mind.’ Nick said softly. ‘Huh?’ ‘Nevermind. How long is she down here for?’ ‘The week then she goes back to get ready for school.’ ‘Oh.’ *End Flashback*

Ch 3
‘Hey Nick, are you ok?’ Kerrie asked. ‘Yea, I’m fine.’ He said coming back to reality. ‘How was the tour?’ She asked. ‘Great, we go to Europe after the holidays are over.’ ‘Are you going to release the CD when you get back?’ ‘We have to do a lot more work before then. Maybe next summer it will be done and we can start promoting it.’ ‘Your very work oriented now.’ ‘Yea, I figured it was time to grow up.’ ‘This studio is pretty cool, I wish I did my demo at a place this good.’ Corie said looking around. ‘You sing?’ Nick asked. ‘Yea, I’m not really great or anything. I just figured I’d give it a shot.’ ‘He got sick of being an A & F poster boy.’ Rich joked. ‘That was awhile ago.’ Corie shot back. ‘Just kidding, I don’t want you to kick my ass.’ Rich was right Corie did look like a well built guy that could take most guys down with a punch or two. ‘How did you guys meet?’ Nick asked as they started back to the recording room. ‘Corie’s half brother was in my class. He used to pick him up all the time for his dad.’ ‘What grade do you teach?’ ‘Second.’ ‘I wish I had teachers that looked like her when I was in school.’ Corie said grinning as he slipped an arm around her waist. ‘You were smart in school anyway. I remember you being valedictorian of your class.’ ‘That’s cause I went to getto C-Town high.’ ‘So... Nick, are you dating anyone?’ ‘Just dating around, I’m getting sick of being with celebrity girls. They are way to over the top for me.’ ‘Didn’t you date Paris Hilton?’ Corie asked. ‘Not one of my better choices.’ He said motioning to the tattoo on his wrist. Corie started laughing and Kerrie gave him a look. ‘She does seem a bit mental.’ Kerrie said. ‘More then a bit.’ Nick said picking up some papers on the board. ‘We better get back to work.’ Rich said as the others started coming back into the room. ‘Alright, I’ll go get these two settled and I’ll be back to pick you up later. Nick, why don’t you come over for dinner? I’m sure Kerrie can make everyone supper.’ Kayte said looking for her sister approval. ‘Yea, I can do that. We can finish catching up.’ Kerrie said smiling. ‘Yea, that would be great. I’ll drive Rich home when we’re finished.’ Nick said. ‘What time should I have supper ready for?’ Kerrie asked. ‘How about 6?’ Rich said looking at the board at his list of stuff to work on. ‘Sounds like a plan. See you guys later.’ ‘Bye.’ With that they walked out of the studio and went back to Rich and Kayte’s house. Corie called one of his friends that lived in the area and they were going to go hang out for a bit while the girls went to pickup some food. ‘Have you and Corie talked about having a baby anymore?’ Kayte asked as they went through the food store. ‘I tried to bring it up once but he keeps saying that he wants to finish school and have a good job-’ ‘So you can stay at home with the kids.’ ‘Yup.’ ‘That does seem like a nice idea but most women work and raise a family.’ ‘Yea, I think he’d just feel bad putting our kids in daycare. It would only be a short day for them anyway because he goes into work at 9 so he could drop them off and I could pick them up at 3 when I get out of work.’ ‘Plus mom could always watch them one or two days a week. She’d love that.’ ‘Right, she was the one who said I’m too young to be getting married.’ Kerrie said rolling her eyes.

Ch 4
‘Hey Nick!’ Rich said again. Nick was too busy thinking about Kerrie again. Especially about their past chemistry. *Flashback* ‘Who would have thought a brainy girl would look so cute in a bathing suet?’ He said laughing as she splashed him. ‘Just cause some girls are smart it doesn’t meet they have to be a troll.’ She said smirking. ‘I was wondering if you’d want to come hang out at AJ’s house tonight. He’s having a small party?’ Nick asked. ‘Why would you want to go with a brainy girl?’ She said laughing. ‘I never said brainy was bad.’ He said giving her a puppy dog look. ‘I guess I could spend a few hours away from my books.’ She said giggling. ‘Great. I better head back to my place. I’ll pick you up at 6 ok?’ ‘Sure.’ He got out of the pool and grabbed his towel before heading inside. ‘It looks like you two are getting awful cozy.’ Kayte said laughing. ‘Hey I thought you were asleep.’ Kerrie said grinning. ‘I just wanted you two to think I was asleep.’ Kayte said sitting up. ‘At least your having fun. It’s good to see you smile from being around people. Not just from reading a book.’ *End Flashback* ‘Nick!’ ‘Huh?’ ‘Day dreaming again?’ Rich asked. ‘Maybe a little, just thinking-’ ‘I know, about Kerrie. Your still not over her are you?’ ‘I thought I was, I mean it has been over two years.’ Nick said slumping on the couch. ‘How about you guys take the rest of the day off and we can meet back here in the morning?’ Rich said. The other guys headed out. ‘I don’t know why I’m acting like this again. She made a point that we could never be together as a couple.’ Nick said resting his head in his hands. ‘I know she felt something for you then but she was afraid, her biggest thing is she didn’t want to get hurt.’ ‘When your in love you have to take risks.’ Nick said getting up as he started pacing. ‘I know it took her awhile to get over you. To tell you the truth, I doubt her and Corie will last long.’ ‘Why is that?’ ‘She wants a family and he wants to wait. Everyone thinks they rushed into things. They were together 6 months before getting engaged and the engagement lasted 6 months.’ ‘They’ve been together a year?’ ‘Yup, a year. They got married on their anniversary. Her mom was dead set against the wedding, she almost didn’t go until Kayte talked to her.’ ‘Wow... who would have thought?’ ‘Yea, I know. If you don’t feel comfortable being around her and I can call and say your sick.’ ‘I think I should face her and try to move past these feelings.’ Nick said. ‘Alright, do you want to stick around and go over the stuff we already have?’ ‘Yea, let’s get some work done.’ Nick and Rich went back to work going over all the music they recorded and playing with the music. At the house Kerrie was putting supper together while Kayte sat on the phone talking to a friend. Corie called and said he’d be back after supper.

Ch 5
6pm came fast and soon Rich and Nick pulled up to the house. Kerrie was sitting on the couch watching a movie and Kayte was sitting on the computer in the office. ‘Hey Ker, what yea watching?’ Rich asked. ‘She’s watching Lord of The Rings. My least favorite movie!’ Kayte said from across the hall. ‘Which one?’ Nick asked sitting on the other end of the couch. ‘The Two Towers.’ Kayte appeared in the doorway. ‘She loves Orlando Bloom, I was forced into going to see those movies numerous times.’ Kayte grumbled. ‘At least she doesn’t like Elijah Wood, he is creepy in that movie.’ Rich said walking to the kitchen. ‘Where is Corie?’ Rich asked coming back with a beer and a water. Rich handed the beer to Nick. ‘He went to go play pool with Jason Richards. He only lives two blocks away.’ ‘That’s cause he’s spoiled with you cooking for him all the time. I wish Kayte cooked like you.’ Rich said laughing. ‘Hey! I can cook... some foods.’ Kayte said from the kitchen. ‘Are you one of those huge Lord of the Rings fans?’ Nick asked sipping his beer. ‘You could say that.’ Kerrie said trying not to laugh. ‘Just ask how many times she’s seen this movie.’ Kayte said grinning as she took a seat next to Rich. ‘How many times?’ ‘Too many to count.’ Kerrie said laughing. ‘Have you seen all of them?’ ‘Only parts.’ ‘You’ve only seen parts of them? These movies are great.’ Kerrie said shocked. ‘Just haven’t had time.’ Nick said trying hard not to stare at her. ‘What are you doing Saturday?’ ‘I’m pretty sure nothing.’ ‘Good, you can get educated on LOTR.’ Kerrie said laughing. ‘Lucky you.’ Rich said trying not to laugh. ‘That should be interesting. Is Corie into the movies this much?’ Nick asked. ‘He’ll watch them but he’d not as into them as I am.’ Kerrie headed into the kitchen to check on supper. ‘It’s done.’ Kerrie said coming back two minutes later. They all walked into the dinning room to see chick parm, meatballs, bread, and pasta on the table. ‘Wow... you make all of this?’ ‘The pasta’s not homemade.’ Kerrie said laughing. ‘But still that’s a lot of work.’ Nick said sitting down next to Kerrie. ‘Cooking just comes easy to me, I guess.’ The rest of dinner was pretty quiet when it was over they all sat around the living room until Corie came home almost 2 hours later. ‘I better get going. We have to be in the studio early.’ Nick said getting up and stretching. ‘Thanks for dinner, it was great.’ ‘It was good catching up. So I’ll see you on Saturday.’ ‘Yea, I’ll be over around 10.’ ‘See yea in the morning, Nick.’ Nick headed out to his car and rested his head on the steering wheel. ‘Damn...she’s still as hot as ever.’ He said before starting his car and heading home.

Ch 6
When Nick got home he saw his answer machine blinking. He pressed the button before going to get a drink. ‘Hey Nick, it’s Brian. Just calling to check in and I have some good news Jamie and I are getting back together. Give me a call back when you have a chance. Bye.’ Nick laughed to himself. Jamie and Brian were a great couple, he knew that they would eventually get back together. Nick grabbed the phone and called Brian. ‘Nicky, where yea been?’ Brian asked. ‘At Rich’s place, Kerrie’s here.’ ‘Oh... how is she?’ ‘She’s married.’ ‘Married? Since when?’ ‘Just got back from her hunny moon. Brian, she is still as perfect as before.’ Nick said almost in a whine. ‘Sorry man.’ ‘Enough about me, when did you and Jamie get back together?’ ‘I was in LA finishing up my solo CD and a bumped into her at a restaurant. She’s doing PR now and was meeting up with some movie people.’ ‘That’s great, you guys were a great couple.’ ‘She’s coming down to Florida for the big New Years Party. How’s the CD coming?’ ‘Good, Rich has some great stuff done.’ ‘I can’t wait to hear it. I better get going, I meeting Kevin for lunch.’ ‘Alright, talk to yea later.’ ‘Bye.’ Nick hung up the phone and fished his drink before going to bed. The next day was spent in the studio and got a lot of work done. Rich was suprised how motivated Nick was, everything he sang seemed to be from the heart. During lunch Nick seemed to be in his own world again. ‘Hey Nick, the stuff we’ve done so far has been great.’ Rich said as Nick snapped out of it again. ‘Yea, I managed to find my inspiration again.’ Rich smiled to himself and went to go call Kayte. * Flashback* Nick had just picked up Kerrie and they were going to AJ’s party. She was dressed in a pair of shorts and a tank top. ‘Is the party going to be all celebrities?’ Kerrie asked as they pulled into AJ’s driveway. ‘Some but mostly just friends.’ They went into the house and were greeted by AJ. ‘Hey Nick, you must be Kerrie.’ She nodded. ‘Great to meet you. Nick’s been talking about you nonstop.’ Nick turned a bright shade of red as Kerrie just smiled. ‘He told me all about you guys.’ ‘Anything good?’ AJ asked raising an eyebrow. ‘He said that your a ladies man.’ ‘Nick, it’s nice to know your right about one thing. The rest of the guys are outside.’ AJ walked into the other room where a few girls were. ‘Let me introduce you to the other guys.’ Nick took her hand and lead her outside. Brian was doing impressions of someone while everyone else was laughing. ‘Nick, your finally here!’ Brian said jumping up and down. ‘Guys, I’d like to you meet Kerrie. Kerrie, this is Brian, Howie, and Kevin.’ After a round of hellos everyone got settled. Kevin introduced Kerrie to his girlfriend, Beth, and the girls spent a good amount of time talking while the guys joked around. Nick couldn’t take her eyes off of her, he loved her smiled and the way she held her hands. *End Flashback* Nick came back to reality when his phone rang.

Ch 7
He looked at the name and let out a sigh. He let the voice mail get the message and he shut the phone off. It was Brie, they started casually dating several months before but took a break before Thanksgiving. She had a great personality and was pretty but she lived in Indiana and the distance was an issue at times. When Rich came back they finished up a few more songs before Nick laid down a some vocals. Once they were done Nick checked his messages. ‘Hey Nick, it’s me Brie. I was thinking about you, actually us. Give me a call when you have a chance.’ He thought about it for a minute but closed his phone. Maybe later. He thought to himself as he headed home. The next day was Saturday so Nick got to bed early and managed to fall asleep without too much trouble. He woke up around 8 excited about spending the day with her. Nick rummaged through his clothes trying to find something to wear. He settled on a pair of baggy track pants and a white tee-shirt. On his way to Rich’s house he got two coffees from Dunkin Donuts, Kerrie’s favorite drink. When he got there Rich and Kayte were getting ready to go visit Brad and his girlfriend, Jessica, for the day. That night Devin was going to join them for a small get together. ‘Coffee?’ Kerrie asked happily. ‘Your favorite, luckily I still remember.’ ‘Thanks, Nick. That was really nice.’ ‘Where’s Corie?’ ‘He had a family emergency and had to get a plane back to Boston yesterday.’ ‘And you didn’t go with him?’ ‘He didn’t want me to get involved. His sister has some major drug problems and got arrested again.’ ‘That sucks. How old is she?’ ‘Just turned 18. She overdosed two months ago and the doctor managed to save her.’ ‘Crazy stuff.’ ‘Yea.’ ‘So Brad has a girlfriend?’ ‘Yea, him and Jessica have been together for almost a year. She just moved down here to live with him.’ ‘Lucky for you.’ ‘He finally got the point I wasn’t interested almost 2 years ago.’ Kerrie popped in Fellowship of the Ring and brought in some donuts for them to munch on. At Brad’s house... Brad and Jessica were outside waiting for them. ‘Hey Rich! How yea doing?’ Brad said giving him a hug. ‘Pretty good. Hi Jessica.’ ‘Hi Rich, Hi Kayte.’ ‘Morning.’ Kayte said getting out of the car. ‘Too bad Kerrie and Corie couldn’t join us.’ Jessica said going into the house followed by everyone else. ‘Corie flew back to Boston yesterday. His sister’s in jail again.’ Rich said. ‘How’s Nick’s CD coming along?’ ‘Great, Kerrie’s educating him on LOTR today.’ Rich said laughing. ‘LOTR are great movies.’ Jessica said sitting on the couch. ‘Can’t say I agree.’ Kayte said laughing. ‘Kerrie drove me crazy watching them. Her obsession with Orlando Bloom is a bit over the top.’ ‘Kayte, I don’t think she’s that obsessed.’ Rich said laughing. ‘Orlando is very attractive.’ Jessica said grinning. ‘Hey, what about me!’ Brad said pretending to be upset. ‘Not as attractive as you Brad.’ She said laughing. ‘Nice to hear that.’ He said kissing her on the cheek.

Ch 8
Back at the house Nick got really into the movie when the hobbits and Aragon were on their way to Rivendell. ‘This is what I’ve been missing out on?’ He mumbled while munching on a donut. ‘Yup and it only gets better.’ Kerrie said with her eyes not leaving the screen. After the council at Rivendell and the first disc ended Kerrie went to get some waters. Nick watched her walk into the kitchen as his phone rang. ‘Hello?’ He asked not even looking at his caller ID. There was a long silence before someone spoke up. ‘Hi Nick.’ Came a soft voice. ‘Hi Brie, how are you?’ ‘I’m ok, I was hoping you’d give me a call back. I don’t want to be a haunt.’ ‘I was actually gonna call you back tonight.’ ‘Are you busy?’ ‘Kinda, I’m watching movies with Kerrie.’ ‘Oh... alright. Don’t let me keep you.’ Kerrie was in the doorway but went back out into the kitchen when she saw him on the phone. She got the ingredients out to make brownies and started to make them. ‘Brie, you don’t need to get upset over this. She’s married now.’ ‘If you say so.’ ‘Want me to put her on the phone?’ Nick asked smirking. ‘No, I trust you.’ ‘Ok, what you said on the message makes a lot of sense. About us...’ ‘You think so?’ ‘Yea, I do.’ ‘I’ll let you get back to your movies.’ ‘I’ll give you a call later.’ ‘Bye, Nick.’ ‘Bye.’ Nick hung up his phone and walked into the kitchen. ‘What yea making?’ He asked looking into the bowl Kerrie was mixing. ‘Brownies, I need a chocolate fix.’ ‘Sounds good.’ Kerrie finished up in the kitchen and they went back to watch disc 2. When it was over they started The Two Towers right away. ‘Are you gonna come down here for New Years with Rich and Kayte?’ ‘I might.’ ‘Come on, there’s someone I want you to meet.’ ‘Who might that be?’ Kerrie asked smirking. ‘Brie, a girl I’ve been seeing. We’re getting back together. She was the one who called me.’ ‘How did you two meet?’ ‘She was down here on vacation and we met at a club.’ ‘That’s cool.’ ‘If you come back for New Years you can see the other guys and Beth.’ ‘How is Beth and Kevin?’ ‘Good, their married now.’ ‘That’s great, I guess I’m gonna have to convince Corie to come down here for New Years.’ Kerrie said half smiling. ‘Gimli is pretty funny.’ Nick said as Kerrie nodded. ‘Merry and Pippin have their moments too.’ For the rest of the afternoon they finished The Two Towers and Return of the King and then hung out by the pool. Before long it was dark out and Rich and Kayte came home. ‘How did you like the movies?’ Rich asked. ‘The movies were really good, I can’t see why I didn’t see them earlier. ‘Oh God, she created another LOTR fan.’ Kayte said rolling her eyes. ‘How’s Devin, Brad and Jess?’ ‘They’re good, Jess was asking for you. She also is a Orli fan much the Brad’s dismay.’ ‘That’s how he is.’ Rich said sitting down on a chair. ‘Spaz said she’s gonna come down for New Years.’ Nick said happily. ‘Geez, no one has called me Spaz since...’ *Flashback* ‘Nick, I can’t believe this.’ Kerrie said smiling. ‘Well... I wanted our first date to be special.’ He said taking her hands. Kerrie looked at the one table on the patio then to all the candles. ‘Thank you, this is really nice.’ Nick lead Kerrie over to the table and pulled out the chair for her. ‘You look amazing, Spaz.’ ‘Spaz?’ ‘That’s gonna be your new nickname. Something for me to call yea.’ He said grinning as he sat down across from her. ‘I’ll have to think of a great nickname for you.’ Kerrie said laughing. *End Flashback* ‘Yea.’ Nick said as a silence came between them.

Ch 9
Two weeks later... Nick was in LA hanging out with AJ. ‘You finally saw here again. What happened?’ AJ asked sipping a coffee. ‘She’s married, she stopped to visit Kayte on her way back from her honeymoon.’ ‘That sucks.’ ‘Your telling me. The minute I saw her so many memories came flooding back. I still love her, AJ.’ ‘That’s normal, she was your first real love.’ ‘It’s not just that. I know she’s the one. I’ve known that for a long time but I could never get her to see that.’ ‘She might not be the one if she’s already married.’ ‘I met her husband, he’s a nice guy but I don’t think they are on the same page.’ ‘How so?’ ‘She wants a family right away and he doesn’t.’ ‘That’s gonna cause some huge conflicts. She’s all about having a big family.’ ‘Plus he’s dealing with problems with his sister.’ ‘Maybe in time she’ll see what she’s missing.’ ‘She’s coming down to Orlando for New Years.’ ‘Is the husband going?’ ‘He said he would but who knows.’ ‘That’s gonna be good.’ ‘I hope so, I invited Brie.’ ‘What? Your trying to get the love of your life back and your bringing another woman?’ ‘Brie is a good person. I miss not having her around.’ ‘You just don’t like being alone. I agree that she is a good person but don’t use her as replacement.’ Nick nodded as a smile crossed AJ’s face. ‘Here she is.’ AJ said as Nick turned to see a girl walking over to the table. ‘Hi Nicole, this is Nick.’ ‘Hi Nick, it’s nice to meet you. AJ has told me all about you and the other guys. I look forward to meeting them on New Years.’ ‘Your coming to Orlando?’ ‘Yea, AJ talked me into going.’ Nick nodded. ‘Nicole, how long are you gonna stay?’ ‘Just until tomorrow. Then I have to get back to Nevada City, I can’t miss anymore work. It really sucks having to work when I’m not in school but at least I’m pretty much independent.’ For the next hour Nick hung out with Nicole and AJ until he left to go do an interview for a magazine. Christmas was spent with his family in Florida. Nick spent all his free time helping Howie plan the New Years party. It was going to be at Howie’s club and a ton of people were on the guest list. On the 28th Kerrie came down to Florida with Rich, Kayte, and Devin. Corie was going to fly down on the 30th so he wouldn’t miss too much work. Brie also arrived on the 28th, her and Nick were going to come over to Rich and Kayte’s place for dinner. ‘Hello?’ ‘Hi hun, how are you?’ ‘Alright. I just woke up.’ ‘Napping again?’ ‘Yea, I’ve been tired.’ ‘I’m just calling to let you know I’m catching a later flight. My sister has a court date and I want to be there for that.’ ‘Corie, you can’t keep bailing her out of everything. She does not want help yet, you’ve tried everything to help her. Now you should wait until she’s ready.’ ‘She needs my help.’ ‘Corie, your wearing yourself out trying to save her. I know you love and care about her but-’ ‘I need to go. I’ll call you tomorrow.’ ‘I love you.’ ‘I love you too. Bye.’ ‘Bye.’ Kerrie hung up the phone and shook her head. She hated fighting with Corie about his sister but he wouldn’t listen to her. ‘Ker, are you ok?’ ‘Yea, just another fight with Corie.’ Kerrie said sitting at the kitchen table. ‘Your both on edge. A lot has happened since you two got married. Just don’t worry to much it’s not good for the baby.’ Kerrie nodded a rested a hand on her growing bump.

Ch 10
Later that afternoon Nick and Brie came over Rich’s place for a small get together. Jessica and Brad were also there when they arrived. Kerrie was in the kitchen with Kayte and Jessica planning a shopping trip to pick out clothes for New Years. ‘Hey Nick.’ Kerrie said smiling. ‘Brie, this is Kerrie and her sister Kayte, Rich’s girlfriend, and Jessica, Brad’s girlfriend.’ ‘Nice to meet you.’ Kerrie said shaking her hand. ‘Do you need any help?’ ‘I’m good with the food but you can stay out here and chat with us.’ Kayte said. After dinner everyone was hanging around the house. ‘Come on everyone, gather round Kerrie has an announcement.’ Rich said as everyone walked into the kitchen. ‘Go ahead, sis.’ Kayte said happily. ‘I’m having a baby.’ Kerrie said beaming. ‘That’s great.’ Jessica said giving her a hug. ‘That’s exciting. Congratulations.’ Brie said giving her a hug. ‘What does Corie think?’ Devin asked sipping his beer. ‘Well... he was a little shocked. I found out Christmas Eve, I’m already in my 5th month.’ ‘You can barely tell. Her doctor had to put her on an eating plan, she needs to start gaining weight.’ Kayte said. ‘Do yea know what your having?’ Brad asked. ‘Not yet, I’ll find out when I get back to Boston.’ ‘This is so exciting, I can’t wait.’ Kayte said happily. ‘Anyone up for desert? I made a bunch of stuff.’ Kerrie asked. ‘Everyone has to try the Milky Way cake, it’s wicked good.’ Rich said pointing to the cake on the counter. ‘Milky Way cake?’ Brie asked shocked. Kerrie nodded as she picked up a brownie and walked into the other room. ‘Is she really ok?’ Jessica asked quietly as they heard a door open and close. ‘She’s ok, but the whole Corie family situation is bothering her. I wouldn’t blame her, Laurie has some serious issues and Corie keeps trying to save her from herself.’ Kerrie heard Kayte talking even though she was trying to be quiet. She sighed as tears started to fall from her eyes.

Ch 11
On New Years Corie wasn’t in Florida, Laurie was back in jail and he was trying hard to get her out. Kerrie was beyond pissed and refused to talk to him when he called several times during the day. That night they were at Howie’’s house for New Years. Kerrie was sociable but everyone knew she was very hurt and upset. At midnight when everyone was kissing their dates Kerrie was outside sitting on the beach trying hard not to cry. A few minutes later Nick found her as silent tears were rolling down her cheek. He sat down next to her and hugged her and she sobbed into his shoulder. Once she calmed down Nick offered to drive her home and she agreed. ‘Thanks so much.’ She said climbing out of his car. ‘Are you sure you’ll be alright. I can stay if you want.’ ‘No, go back and have fun. I’m going to go to sleep.’ ‘Good night, Happy New Year.’ ‘Night, thanks again.’ Kerrie opened the door and Nick started back to Howie’s house. She glanced at the caller ID, Corie had called at least 15 times. Kerrie headed upstairs and fell asleep once her head hit the pillow. Two days later Kerrie walked off the plane in Boston. She made her way to the baggage claim and saw Corie by the door. ‘Why did you come?’ She asked bitterly. ‘You are my wife, why haven’t you been answering my calls?’ ‘Because you broke a promise. This was our first New Years and husband and wife and you stayed here trying to help your sister who obviously doesn’t really care about you.’ Kerrie grabbed her bag off the belt and started towards the door. ‘Kerrie, I know your mad. Let’s talk about this at home.’ ‘I’m not getting in a car with you.’ She spat walking towards the cab stand. ‘Your being crazy. Come with me, I’ll sleep in the guest room if you’d like.’ Corie pleaded. Kerrie nodded as she followed him to the car. The ride was silent, Kerrie spent most of it looking out at window. When they arrived at the condo Corie took her bag and they went inside. ‘Was your trip ok?’ ‘Great, I got to see a lot of old friends many of whom don’t think to highly of you.’ Kerrie said sitting on the couch. ‘I know you think that Laurie doesn’t want my help but she is my little sister and I’m the only one trying to look out for her. She just found out she pregnant and-’ ‘Don’t even think about it, she’s not living with us. The last time she spent a night here I caught her trying to take money out of my wallet.’ Kerrie said glaring at him. ‘No, she’s staying with our mother.’ ‘Good, I’m going to bed. I have to go to work tomorrow.’ Kerrie started towards the bedroom and Corie followed. ‘I’ll sleep next door.’ Corie said grabbing his pillows. ‘No, stay.’ Kerrie said sitting on the edge of the bed.

Ch 12
A month later Kerrie and Corie had gotten back to “normal”. They went out to eat for Valentine’s Day against Kerrie’s gut feeling. On the way back Corie was going the speed limit on the highway when they hit some black ice and the car spun out. Kerrie let out a scream as they hit another car. Corie was unconscious and Kerrie was barely awake when she heard sirens approaching. When they arrived at the hospital Corie was awake and only had a few cuts and bruises. Kerrie wasn’t doing so well. The car hit on her side and she had several injuries. They took her into surgery to stop the internal bleeding. A week later Kerrie woke up from a drug induced coma to see Kayte and Rich sitting beside her bed. ‘Kay-’ ‘Kerrie, don’t talk. I’m gonna go get the doctor.’ Kayte left the room. ‘Spaz, you’ve been in a coma for a week. Do you remember what happened? Just nod.’ Kerrie shook her head no. ‘Ok, you and Corie were in an accident on Valetine’s Day. Corie’s ok but you had some broken ribs and one of them punctured your lung and you almost died.’ Kerrie just nodded as a doctor came into the room. ‘It’s great to see you awake Mrs. Hollien. I’m Dr. Robins and I’ve been taking care of you. I think Rich just gave you the overview of what happened. You’ve improved a lot over the last two days. Right now I think we’re going to keep you here for a few days and run some tests before you can go home.’ ‘What about the baby?’ Kerrie asked frantically. ‘Rich and Kayte, will you give us a minute?’ They both left the room as tears started to fall from Kerrie’s eyes. ‘We tried to save the baby but with the impact she was already dead.’ Dr. Robins said as she sat down in a chair. ‘It was a girl?’ Kerrie sobbed. The doctor nodded. ‘Your husband had been here for days. He didn’t want to leave your side. Would you like to call him? He just went home a few hours ago.’ ‘Would you please?’ Kerrie managed to get out. ‘Would you like your sister or Rich?’ ‘Not yet.’ ‘Ok, I’ll be back to check on you in awhile.’ The doctor left the room and Kerrie cried herself to sleep. She awoke a few hours later to see Corie sitting in the chair. ‘Kerrie, I’ve been so worried.’ He said grabbing her hand but she pulled away. ‘This is your fault.’ Kerrie said coldly. ‘If you listened to me and we stayed in this wouldn't have happened. Our daughter is dead because of you. I hate you!’ She said as silent tears fell from her eyes. ‘Kerrie, this isn’t all my fault. Yes, I should have listened to you but that guy-’ ‘Just leave please.’ ‘Kerrie, don’t shut me out.’ ‘I already did.’ She pointed to the door and he walked out slamming the door.

Ch 13
Kerrie spent almost 2 days of getting tests done before she was oked to go home. Kayte picked up her stuff from her apartment with Corie and brought it to their parents house. The day she was going to be released Nick flew into Boston. He was tied up in Florida recording but called several times to check in on her and even managed to talk to her a few times. Kerrie finished getting dressed and walked out of the bathroom to see Nick sitting on her bed. ‘Nick, your here.’ She said happily as a smile crossed her face. ‘I came to drive you home.’ ‘It’s good to see you.’ She said giving him a hug. ‘Are you feeling better?’ ‘I’m still hurting but it’s gonna take time.’ ‘Are you ready to go?’ ‘Yea, I’ve spent to much time in here.’ Nick grabbed her bag and they walked out to the desk. Kerrie signed the last of the paper work and they went out to the car. ‘Have you talked to Corie?’ Nick asked as he started the car. ‘Not since I woke up.’ Kerrie said softly trying hard not to cry. ‘Oh God, I made you upset. I’m sorry.’ Nick said resting his hand on her knee. ‘It’s ok, it doesn’t take much these days.’ She said trying hard to smile. Kerrie gave Nick directions back to her parents house and when they arrived they were all waiting outside. ‘Welcome home, honey.’ Kerrie’s mom said giving her a light hug. ‘Thanks so much, Nick.’ She said hugging him. ‘Not a problem, I wish I could have gotten here sooner.’ Kerrie’s mom pulled him to the side as Kerrie went inside with Kayte. ‘Corie hasn’t even called to check in on her. I knew he would be a big mistake.’ ‘He hasn’t called? That’s pretty jerky.’ ‘I know Kerrie told him off but anyone who woke up in that condition needs to vent. I saw him the other day acting like nothing has happened. He almost didn’t let Kayte get her things.’ ‘Want me to talk to him?’ ‘No, I can do that. I just wanted to get you up to date.’ Nick nodded as they walked into the house. ‘Yea, I’m feeling much better. Thanks for calling. Bye.’ Kerrie hung up the phone with a half smile. ‘Jess and Brad just calling to see how I am.’ She said sitting down as she winced in pain. ‘Maybe not the best chair.’ She said moving to a kitchen chair.

Ch 14
The next day Ellen went to talk to Corie but he was not home. She went to his job to find him getting ready to leave. ‘Can we talk?’ Ellen asked. ‘I need to go get my sister.’ ‘This isn’t going to take long.’ Corie nodded and lead her into a side room. ‘What the hell are you doing? Kerrie is broken hearted and in a lot of pain and your pretending nothing happened.’ ‘She told me to leave her alone.’ ‘Your not going to even try? This disgusts me.’ Ellen said crossing her arms. ‘I knew she never should have married you. Maybe she’ll come to her senses and see that Nick was the right guy for her all along-’ ‘Wait... he’s here?’ ‘Got here yesterday to pick her up at the hospital. He’s been calling everyday to check in on her.’ Ellen said with a smile. ‘Do you really think that I’m not worried about her. She’s all I think about and it hurts that she won’t let me in.’ Corie said throwing up his arms. ‘After that stunt for New Years maybe this was the last straw. Once you start a family you need to step up and take care of it.’ Ellen said opening the door and walking out. ‘What do you want me to do?’ ‘That’s your choice.’ Back at the house Kerrie was doing a little better. Most of the day she spent answering numerous phone calls from family and friends. Nick went out and bought a bunch of movies for them to watch while they were inside. Two weeks later Kerrie went to get her ribs X-Rayed and they were healing well. ‘Nick, I feel bad keeping you here so long. What does Brie think?’ ‘I told her what happened. She wanted me to come.’ ‘What about recording?’ ‘I put it on hold for a little bit. Friends come first.’ He said smiling as he put an arm around her shoulders. ‘Thanks for coming, I really appreciate it. It’s good to have someone outside my family to talk to.’ Nick nodded as she gave him a hug. ‘Nick, what do you think of these?’ Kerrie pulled out a folder and handed it to him. ‘Divorce papers?’ Nick asked a little bit shocked. ‘Yea, I really think this is what’s best.’ ‘You already signed them.’ ‘Yea, I was wondering if you’d go to see Corie with me?’ ‘Sure.’ Kerrie sniffled as tears started to fall. ‘I really thought we were in love but he just doesn’t care.’ She sobbed. ‘Spaz, it’s ok. I think it’s better you moved on.’ Nick said rubbing her back.

Ch 15
Kerrie and Nick went to the apartment to drop off the divorce papers. After a few minutes of waiting Laurie answered the door. ‘Corie, your wife is here.’ She said opening the door wider. ‘I wanted to drop these off.’ Kerrie handed him the envelop and he pulled out the papers. ‘This is it?’ He asked tears welding up. ‘Yea, it is.’ Kerrie said quietly. Corie shook his head and walked over to the table. ‘This place isn’t the same without you here. Laurie moved in-’ ‘Corie, I-’ ‘Let me guess you want me to sign these so this can be over right now. What if I say no?’ ‘Corie, please don’t do this.’ Kerrie said as tears started to form in her eyes. ‘Do what? Tell you how I feel? You know that I love you.’ Kerrie looked at the ground. ‘Somehow I doubt that.’ She got out before Nick stepped in. ‘Corie, are you going to sign those now or do you want me to come back for them?’ ‘Are you sure this is really what you want? This is how you want to end it?’ ‘Corie, you had too many chances that you let pass by. So yes, this is how I want to end it.’ Kerrie said wiping tears away. ‘Ok.’ He grabbed a pen and signed the papers. ‘Then this is it.’ ‘My lawyer will be in touch if I need anything else.’ Kerrie hurried out the door and Nick followed her. ‘I was crazy to think I could handle that.’ She said shaking her head. ‘I think you handled it good considering what happened.’ ‘Thanks for coming with me. I don’t know what I would have done if I was alone.’ Nick put an arm around Kerrie’s waist as they walked to the car. ‘When are you going back?’ ‘In two weeks.’ ‘Then back to recording?’ ‘Yea, almost done.’ ‘That’s great. Will there be a tour?’ ‘We’re still working out the details but yea. I really liked the club tour I did for Now or Never so maybe one of those.’ The mention of that tour brought back plenty of memories. It was during the tour that they broke up. Kerrie spent her weekends in Florida as he got ready for the tour. Things started to get tense when school started getting busier and Kerrie made it down once a month. Kerrie broke up with Nick two days before the tour started and when it came to Boston managed to be on a skiing trip. Before December that was the last time they saw each other in the airport in Orlando.

Ch 16
Kerrie snapped back to reality when she heard the phone. 'Hello?' 'Hey sis, how yea feeling?' 'Hi Kayte, I'm doing good. How's New York?' Kayte was in New York doing a few photo shoots before coming back to Boston to be with Rich through a few more treatments. 'It's good. Did he sign the papers?' 'Yea, I was surprised.' 'That's good, now you’re a free woman.' Kayte said smiling to herself. 'What's that supposed to mean?' Kerrie asked going into the other room. 'You know what I mean. Your still in love with him aren't you?' 'Well…umm…' 'Kerrie, he still loves you it's obvious.' 'But what about-' 'Brie? I almost forgot about her.' Kayte said stopping to think. 'I'm sure it will work itself out.' Kayte finally said. 'Whatever, I gotta go.' 'Talk to you later. Call me if anything changes.' Kayte said laughing. 'Very funny.' Kerrie said smirking. 'Bye.' 'Bye, Kayte.' Kerrie hung up the phone as her thoughts went back to their breakup. *Flashback* 'Right now this isn't working for me.' She said softly as Nick pulled up in front of the airport terminal. 'How is it not working? We're seeing each other as much as we can.' Nick said. 'It's just getting to crazy-' 'Spaz, look at me.' Nick said grabbing her hand. 'Your making this-' 'I'm making what?' He asked wiping a tear away form her cheek. 'Stop! Nick, we can't be together any more.' She managed to get out before her sobs took over. 'Spaz, you don’t mean that. We love each other, we can make it work.' Nick said getting out of the car after her. 'Nick, please-' 'I'm not gonna give up on us.' He said grabbing her hands. 'We just need time-' 'Nick, we don’t need time. This is just too much. I can't keep up with work, classes, and traveling all the time to see you. It's wearing me down.' Kerrie said looking at the ground. 'Kerrie, don't walk away from us.' 'Nick, this is what is best. We need to grow as people and we can't do that when we're together.' She said. 'Why not?' 'Nick, I need to catch my flight.' Kerrie said looking at her watch. 'We should talk about this.' He said helping her with her bags. 'There is nothing more to say.' Kerrie said walking away from him. 'Kerrie, I love you!' He yelled as tears started to fall from his eyes. 'I love you too, more then you know.' She said before walking through security. *End Flashback*

Ch 17
That night Kerrie made a big Italian supper. Her parents were going away for a few days so after dinner they packed up and got ready to leave. 'You two should go out. It's Friday night.' Kerrie's mother said coming down the stairs. 'What do yea think?' Kerrie asked. 'We can celebrate you being a free woman.' Nick said grinning. 'Yea, that would be fun. I'll go get ready.' Kerrie walked into her room. 'Don't start thinking of him in that way again.' She muttered to herself as she picked out a pair of black pants and a top. Nick got changed quickly and was waiting down stairs for her. He looked at his phone as a text message from Brie came through 'I know that you'll want to be with Kerrie now that she's single. Good luck.' 'Figures she'd be nice about that.' He mumbled to himself. 'Who'd be nice about what?' Kerrie asked slipping on her coat. 'Brie thinks it's time to go our separate ways.' Nick said half smiling. 'Oh, how do you feel about that?' Kerrie asked grabbing her keys. 'Ok, I know we've been growing apart. It only makes sense.' Kerrie nodded. 'I'll call a cab.' She called a cab and they went out front to wait for it. 'So where are we going?' Nick asked. 'I was thinking about Tequila Rain.' Nick nodded. Before long they were in the club ordering drinks and kicking back. Kerrie saw a few old friends at the bar, and her friend Kate questioned where Corie was. 'We're getting a divorce.' Kerrie said quietly. 'That's a shame, we all thought you two would patch things up after the accident.' Another girl piped in. 'We had some problems before that. You girls remember Nick right?' She asked changing the subject. 'Yea, you two were such a cute couple.' Kate said smirking. 'Oh there's the rest of the group, we better be going. Nice seeing you too.' Kate said leading the others to the other side of the club. Kerrie let out a sigh of relief and took a large sip of her drink. 'I hope we don't have to run into some more nosey people like her again.' Nick said as Kerrie nodded. The rest of the night was filled with jokes and drinks. Kerrie even got Nick to dance with her a few times. When the clubs closed they headed back to Kerrie's house.

Ch 18
In Orlando… Brad and Jessica were celebrating their one year anniversary. While she went to run some errands he set up a romantic dinner. When Jessica got back to the house all the lights were out and Brad was sitting on the doorstep with roses in his hands. 'What's going on?' Jessica asked as Brad took the bags out of her arms. 'I have something special planned in the backyard.' Jessica walked around the side of the house to see the yard all lit up and with a table for two set up on the patio. 'Brad, this is amazing.' She stammered. 'Well I wanted this to be a special night But first I have something to ask you.' Jessica started shaking as he got down on one knee. 'Jessica I love you, will you marry me?' All she could manage was a nod. Back in Boston… Kayte had just returned from New York so her and Rich were meeting up with Kerrie and Nick for dinner. 'You would never guess who just called me with exciting new?' Kayte asked walking into the restaurant. 'Who?' Kerrie asked slightly intrigued. 'Jessica called, her and Brad are engaged.' 'Wow, that is exciting.' Kerrie said as Nick nodded. ‘Rich is on the phone with Devin.’ Kayte said motioning outside. The waitress sat them at the table as Rich came walking over to the table. ‘You better watch out or someone is gonna be expecting a ring soon.’ Kerrie said laughing as Kayte hit her arm. ‘No way, marriage isn’t our thing.’ ‘You got that right.’ Kerrie rolled her eyes at their comments. ‘I don’t think you have the right idea. Some marriages don’t work out but if you really love someone and are ready for that commitment then it’s a good thing.’ Kerrie said looking over the menu. ‘No offense but you and Corey jumped into the whole thing.’ Rich said as Kayte shot him a look. ‘Sorry.’ Rich mumbled. ‘Yea, we did and look how it worked out. He wasn’t ready to really settle down and I didn’t even think everything through.’ Kerrie said softly. ‘Let’s drop the whole topic.’ Kayte said. ‘Nick, how long are you gonna stay around for?’ Kayte asked. ‘Another two weeks or so.’ He said shrugging. ‘Then I’m going back to Florida to finish up the CD.’ ‘That’s cool. Kerrie, have you though about when your going back to work?’ Rich asked. ‘I was thinking about it and I think when Nick goes back to Florida I’ll try going back to work.’ ‘I’m sure your class misses you.’ Kayte said. ‘Yea, they’ve sent over cards an a few parents have called to see how I am.’

Ch 19
Those two weeks passed by quickly and Nick headed back to Florida and Kerrie went back to work. She through herself into her work. Kerrie went to the apartment and picked up the rest of her stuff. During April vacation she was going to Florida with Kayte and Rich. The night they arrived she got a call on her cell phone. ‘Hello?’ ‘Hey Spaz.’ ‘Hi Nick, how are you?’ ‘I’m good. How’s things been at work?’ ‘Ok.’ ‘I heard your in Florida.’ ‘For the week.’ ‘That’s cool. I was wondering if you’d like to go out for lunch tomorrow with Brian and Jamie?’ ‘Yea, that would be great. I haven’t seen Brian since New Years.’ ‘Then on Tuesday night Kevin is having a party at his house, if you want to go with me.’ ‘Yea, that will be fun.’ Kerrie said. ‘I better get back to recording but I’ll pick you up tomorrow around 12.’ ‘Ok, see yea then.’ Kerrie smiled to herself as she walked down stairs. ‘Who were yea talking to?’ Kayte asked grinning. ‘Nick called, we’re going to lunch with Brian and his girlfriend tomorrow.’ ‘That’s great. So...’ ‘So, what?’ Kerrie asked trying hard not to laugh. ‘What’s going on with you two?’ ‘Nothing.’ Kerrie said walking into the kitchen. ‘Oh please, you have that goofy smile again. That same smile that you had when you two dated.’ ‘I do not have a goofy smile.’ Kerrie said crossing her arms. ‘You do, I hope you two come to your senses soon. The suspense is killing me.’ Kayte said grabbing a bottle of water and walking back into the living room. ‘Am I still in love with him?’ Kerrie thought to herself as she walked into the backyard. On the other side of town Nick was all smiles as he walked back into the studio. ‘What’s with you man?’ ‘Nothing, just making lunch plans for tomorrow.’ ‘With that girl you always talk about?’ ‘Yea, she’s down here for the week.’ ‘I’m glad to see you happy again.’ Nick nodded as he picked up his lyrics again. As the music started Nick sang his heart out and finished the song in one take. A few hours later the recording was finished and Nick went home.

Ch 20
That night seemed to pass by slowly for both Kerrie and Nick. At 12 Nick pulled up to Rich and Kayte’s house. He rang the doorbell and Kerrie answered dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a three-quarter sweater. ‘Wow, you look really good.’ Nick said giving her a hug. ‘Thanks, you look good too.’ They made their way over to Nick’s car in silence. ‘How’s work been?’ ‘It’s been pretty good. It was hard getting back into the swing of things but now everything is moving smoothly again. How’s the recording going?’ ‘Great, I have two more songs left and then it’s done.’ ‘That must be a relief.’ ‘Yea, I can’t wait to start touring again. It’ll be great to see the fans reaction to the music.’ Kerrie half smiled. ‘Yea, that must be gratifying.’ After they pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant Nick spoke up. ‘Kerrie, I have something I want to say and please hear me out. Since I met you I’ve been in love with you. I know we have our differences but I still love you. Can you give us another chance? I know you and Corie haven’t been separated that long but I’m willing to wait until your ready.’ Kerrie looked at her hands nervously. She had been waiting to hear him say that for awhile. ‘Nick, I love you too.’ She managed to get out before tears started to form in her eyes. ‘I’ve loved you for so long and I had second thoughts after I walked away before. I would love for us to have a second chance.’ Nick leaned over as their lips met in a soft kiss knowing that things would only get better from there

Prologue

It had been 9 months since Kerrie moved in with Nick. Brad and Jessica are doing well, their wedding was in less than a month. Kayte and Rich are now married, they eloped to Vegas at the end of January. Brian and Jamie just moved in together. She is transferring to the Orlando office of her firm. Nicole graduated from high school and chose to attend University of Miami, her and AJ are still dating. Howie and Devin are both still single. Beth and Kevin are doing great, she is finishing up law school and has already had offers from two New York Law firms as well as one in Kentucky. Jessica’s bachelorette party is on Saturday, Kerrie and Kayte planned it. It is going to be a small get together at Kayte and Rich’s place and all the girls were just going to stay over so no one would have to worry about driving home. Kerrie cooked a bunch of different snack foods as well as deserts and Kayte planned a bunch of games. A few of Jessica’s friends from back home had flown in for the weekend.

Ch 1
March 2007

It was the final dress fitting earlier in the day so Kerrie met up with Jamie, Beth, and Nicole for lunch. ‘Hi girls, sorry I’m late.’ Beth said pulling up a chair. ‘We all just got here.’ Jamie said. ‘How have you girls been?’ Beth asked looking at the menu. ‘I’ve been good, busy with school.’ Nicole said. ‘Me too, I actually started taking a few classes for my Masters.’ Kerrie said. ‘Moving has been a pain but it’s finally done and I start at the new office in a week.’ ‘Wow, it seems we’ve all been busy.’ Beth said as a waitress came over to get their orders. After lunch and a lot of laughs the girls went their separate ways. Kerrie went to Kayte and Rich’s place to finish getting the food ready. The girls came walking through the door laughing. ‘That was classic, I don’t know how they thought I was gonna fit into that dress.’ Kayte said walking into the kitchen. ‘Yea, that was crazy.’ One of Jessica’s friends said laughing. ‘What happened?’ Kerrie asked looking up from her magazine. ‘They got Kayte a kids dress instead of an adults.’ Jessica said as Kerrie started laughing. ‘You so damn skinny I’m suprised you didn’t fit in it.’ ‘Look at all this stuff. Kerrie, there’s only 7 of us you know.’ Kayte said as Kerrie shrugged. ‘I’m sure the guys will be over in the morning.’ Kerrie said closing her magazine and standing up. ‘What’s up now?’ Jessica asked. ‘It’s only 3 so we should hang out for awhile.’ Kayte said yawning. ‘Anyway I think I’m gonna take a nap.’ Kayte said going up the stairs as the others went to go watch some TV. At Brad and Jessica’s house Rich, Brad, Devin, Nick, and Brad’s 3 brothers were planning what they were going to do that night. ‘We need to go out. There’s no way I’m sitting around here all night.’ Rich said. ‘Let’s finishing watching the game and then we can go to a bar or something.’ Bobby said. The basketball game was over in an hour then they went to get something to eat. ‘Guys, I know where to go next.’ Devin said smirking. ‘I’m not even gonna ask.’ Brad said laughing. ‘I think we should crash the girls party.’ Bobby said as Rich nodded in agreement. ‘I don’t think it’s a good idea.’ Michael said as they walked to the cars. ‘Come on we’re just gonna stop by for a little while and then we’ll be on our way.’ Rich said as he got into Nick’s car.

Ch 2
15 minutes later the guys pulled up to Rich and Kayte’s house to hear music blasting. ‘Girls, we have company.’ Kerrie said looking out the window. ‘No way, they are not coming in here.’ Kayte said finishing off her drink and walking to the door. ‘Richard Burton Cronin, you are not bringing those guys in here tonight.’ Kayte said opening the door. ‘Come on, we just want to say hi.’ Rich said giving her a quick kiss. ‘Jessica, it’s your party what do you say?’ Kerrie asked. ‘Why not?’ She said smirking as Kayte shot her a look. ‘Ok, we’re giving you guys an hour then we’re kicking you out cause we got stuff planned.’ Kayte said letting them in the house. Everyone hung around the living room except Kerrie and Nick who went outside. ‘Are you and the guys having fun?’ She asked sitting on the lounge chair. ‘Not really, Rich and Devin were suppose to plan some stuff and they are making it up as they go.’ ‘As long as you are behaving yourself.’ Kerrie said laughing as he kissed her. ‘I always behave myself. So what did you girls plan for tonight?’ ‘Not to much, just some drinking games and Kayte got a stripper.’ ‘And your worrying about me behaving myself?’ ‘I promise I’ll be on my best behavior.’ Kerrie said smirking. ‘Look at them, they are such a cute couple.’ Kayte said to Rich as she looked out the window into the yard. ‘I’m glad their back together, it’s good to see the two of them happy again.’ ‘What do you guys have planned for tonight?’ ‘Not to much, just typical guy stuff.’ ‘Hmm... booze and stripers?’ ‘You know us to well. I know you planed the same.’ Kayte just laughed as she walked into the living room where everyone else was laughing at jokes Michael was telling. Brad and Jessica were sitting cozily on the couch whispering to each other with smiles on their faces. ‘All the love birds and us four single ladies.’ One of Jessica’s friends said giggling. ‘That could change.’ Michael said raising an eyebrow.

Ch 3
An hour later Kayte started pushing Rich, Brad, and Devin towards the door. ‘Come on time to go.’ Kayte said as Nick and Kerrie came walking back in the house. ‘I guess it’s time to go.’ Devin said as Michael, Bobby, and Ricky joined the guys at the door. ‘See you guys later.’ Jessica said as the guys headed to the cars. ‘That was fun.’ One of Jessica’s friends said grinning. ‘Umm... Kayte, we kinda told the guys we’d met up with them later.’ Jessica said as her friends nodded. ‘We can meet up with them after our guests arrive.’ Kayte said watching out the window. ‘Where’s Kerrie?’ Jessica said noticing she was gone. ‘I’m back.’ Kerrie said walking into the room. About 15 minutes later a SUV pulled into the driveway. ‘Here’s the entertainment.’ Kayte said walking to the door. Two very built men walked in the door dressed as cops. One of them turned on a radio as they started dancing. Jessica laughed nervously as one of the guys was all but straddling her. Kerrie was laughing so hard she walked into the other room to get some more drinks for everyone. After nearly 2 hours the party slowed down when the stripers left. Jessica called Brad and they were all going to meet up in a hour at a club downtown. All the girls changed and got ready to go out. ‘That was so much fun. We should do that again.’ Kayte said laughing as the girls split up into cars. ‘Thanks girls, I had a good time tonight.’ Jessica said giving them both a hug. ‘Come on let’s meet the guys.’ Kayte said getting into her car with Kerrie. Jessica and her friends got into the other car and they drove to the club. Brad was waiting outside and he lead the girls inside. ‘Hey ladies.’ Devin said. ‘Where’s the other two?’ Kayte asked, meaning Rich and Nick. ‘Getting drinks for you girls.’ A few minutes later they came walking over with several beers. ‘How was the party?’ Rich asked. ‘Tons of fun.’ Kayte said grinning. Jessica and her friends went to go dance with Brad, his brothers, and Devin not far behind them.

Ch 4
‘I’m so happy their getting married. They are such a cute couple.’ Kayte said watching Brad and Jessica dance. ‘I always thought bachelor parties were supposed to be crazier than this though.’ Rich said sipping is water. ‘All the ones I’ve been to were even more mellow than this.’ Nick said as a waitress came over with some drinks. ‘Spaz, are you still going home next weekend?’ ‘Yup, I have a baby shower and a birthday party.’ ‘Nick, are you going?’ ‘No, I have plans with Brian. Rich, you can come with us. We’re gonna catch a basketball game then I’m gonna help Brian build some furniture.’ ‘That would give me something to do. Kayte’s going to New York for business.’ ‘Florida will be so quiet with you two gone.’ Nick said laughing. ‘Real funny.’ Kerrie said trying not to laugh as she shot him a look. ‘Come on you aren’t gonna sit there all night.’ Jessica said coming over to get them. ‘I prefer to stay seated.’ Rich said as Kayte tried to push him out of the booth. ‘Come on, Rich.’ She said whining ‘If I get up it’s for one dance then I’m sitting for the rest of the night.’ Rich said as Kayte nodded. ‘This is a first.’ Kerrie said as Nick took her hand. ‘I think we should get out of here soon.’ Nick said grinning as Kerrie nodded. ‘I don’t think anyone is going home alone tonight.’ She laughed. ‘How was your lunch with the girls?’ ‘Good, nothing to interesting happened.’ ‘Even if it did would you tell me?’ He asked raising an eyebrow. ‘Maybe.’ She said smiling. ‘I’m gonna miss you next weekend.’ ‘I’ll miss you too but it will fly by.’ ‘Remind me again why it’s so important that you go back to Boston?’ ‘It’s Erin’s baby shower and Patrick’s 2nd birthday.’ ‘Oh ok. I just seems like there’s a lot of stuff like that recently.’ ‘That’s because all the teacher’s at my old school are having babies at the same time. Rachel started the trend last year and all the young teachers followed. There must be something in the water.’ Kerrie said laughing. About an hour later Kerrie and Nick left with Kayte and Rich leaving a few minutes later.

Ch 5
The week seemed to go by extremely quickly. Kerrie had to stay late at school almost everyday doing prep for the state tests the kids were taking. Nick spent some time in the studio and the rest of the time on the boat trying to keep himself busy. On Thursday Kerrie managed to get out of work on time and got home before Nick. She smiled to herself as she started to get supper ready. Once she was done she opened the backdoor to let the dogs in and their newest dog a lab/great dane mix, Kasey nearly tackled Kerrie to the floor. ‘Kase, your awful excited.’ Kerrie said patting the dog as she walked into the living room to see the answering machine blinking. ‘I’m trying to reach a Kerrie Hollien, this is Doctor William Roberts calling from Mass General in Boston. Your husband was involved in a accident at work. Please call me back right away.’ Kerrie wrote down the number and called the hospital back. ‘Dr. Roberts, I’m Corie’s ex-wife. I live in Florida now. You should contact his brother, sister, or mother.’ ‘He asked me to call you.’ ‘Why is that?’ ‘He wants you to come and see him. While working on a new building a large piece of metal fell on him. He is very luckily that he wasn’t paralyzed but he had a broken leg and several broken ribs.’ ‘Dr. Roberts, please let him know that I’m coming back to Boston this weekend for family matters and if I have time I will stop by.’ ‘Here he wants to speak to you.’ Before Kerrie could protest she heard Corie’s voice. ‘Ker, please. Please come and see me.’ ‘Corie, I’m in Florida. We’re divorced.’ ‘I still love you.’ ‘Corie, I love Nick. I’m sorry. If I have any free time I’ll stop by.’ ‘Kerrie-’ Before he could finish she hung up and sat on the couch. ‘Who was that?’ Nick asked walking into the room. ‘Corie and his doctor. I guess he was in an accident at work and he wants me to go see him.’ ‘Are you?’ ‘I don’t know.’ Kerrie said quietly. ‘Spaz, I don’t want to tell you what to do but going to see him isn’t a good idea. He hasn’t contacted you since the divorce.’ ‘I just feel bad. Maybe I’ll just send him a card or something.’ Kerrie said shrugging. ‘He’s gonna try to use this to get you back.’ Nick said walking into the kitchen. ‘I don’t think so. He knows better than that. Anyway... how is the recording coming?’ ‘It’s ok, we didn’t do to much today.’ ‘That’s good. School was crazy, a bunch of kids are getting the flu and parents are sending them in. Complete craziness, I feel bad for the nurse. She had them in her office all day.’

Ch 6
Supper was quiet. Kerrie knew the phone call really bothered Nick. ‘I won’t go see him.’ She mumbled. ‘Spaz, I worry about you. It took you a long time to get over everything that happened.’ ‘Nick, I can never get over the fact that I lost a child.’ Kerrie said as tears started to fill her eyes. She got up quickly and ran up the stairs. Nick hung his head, it had been nearly 3 months since the topic hadn’t been mentioned. The first 6 months of Kerrie living with him were hard. She was still sensitive about everything and several times it almost caused their relationship to shatter. Nick tried his hardest to understand what she went thought but he really didn’t have a clue. He knew that the thought of being a mother was more important to Kerrie then most things. Although she was still seeing a therapist to get over the trauma he knew that would never happen. Kerrie fell on the bed and sobbed into the pillow. She heard Nick in the doorway and turned her back to him. ‘I’m sorry, Spaz. I shouldn’t have said it.’ Nick said walked over to the bed. ‘It’s just to much. I want to move on but it’s so hard.’ Kerrie said as she continued to sob. Nick sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed her back. ‘Spaz, I wish I could take all the pain.’ He said as she sat up and hugged him. ‘I think this is gonna be my last trip to Boston for awhile.’ Kerrie said wiping her eyes. ‘Do you want me to go with you? I can cancel my plans.’ ‘Don’t do that. I’ll be ok.’ Kerrie said half smiling. ‘Are you ok now?’ ‘I think so.’ The phone started ringing and Nick reluctantly answered it. ‘Hello?’ ‘Is Kerrie there?’ ‘Corie, right now is not a good time.’ ‘I really need to speak to her.’ ‘She’s busy right now. I’ll tell her you called.’ With that Nick hung up and Kerrie walked out of the room. ‘Kerrie, don’t be upset with me.’ Nick said following her. ‘I’m not upset with you. I’m upset with Corie. You know he’s not going to stop until I see him.’ ‘I’ll call and talk to him later.’ Nick said. ‘Nick, you don’t need to do that.’ ‘I can’t stand to see you upset because of him.’ ‘I’ll take care of this. I’ll talk to him and solve this once and for all.’

Ch 7
Kerrie woke up Friday morning to find Nick already gone. He still wasn’t sure about the idea about Kerrie talking to Corie. She showered and went downstairs to see a note from Nick. ‘Good morning babe, I just went out on the boat for a little awhile to clear my mind. Kayte called and she was stopping by Jessica and Brad’s house before she picks you up. I should be home by then. Love you, Nick.’ Kerrie went over to her bag and double checked she had everything. Once that was done she called the hospital to tell Corie that she was going to stop by tomorrow. Nick came back almost an hour later with dark circles under his eyes. ‘Did you get my note?’ He asked tossing his keys on the table. ‘I did. Are you ok?’ ‘Not really, I’m worried about you.’ He said sitting on the edge of the couch and Kerrie sat next to him. ‘I need to sort things out with Corie on my own. I should have done this before I moved down here.’ ‘Spaz, I just don’t want to loose you again.’ He said hugging her. ‘Trust me, your not going to loose me. I never loved Corie as much as I love you. I’m going to go to the Hospital and telling him to stay out of my life. He needs to move on like I did.’ ‘Will he actually listen to you?’ ‘I think he will, there is no reason why he shouldn’t.’ ‘Will you at least bring someone with you?’ ‘Yea, I’ll bring someone with me. Once I talk to him I’ll call you and tell you how it went.’ ‘Are you sure you don’t want me to go?’ ‘Corie will listen better if it’s just me.’ ‘Spaz, I love you.’ ‘I love you too, Nick.’ Nick yawned and Kerrie just smiled. ‘Why don’t you get some sleep?’ ‘I’ll wait until Kayte gets here.’ ‘She’ll be here in a few minutes.’ Kerrie said looking at her watch. ‘We should say good-bye.’ Nick said standing up. Kerrie kissed Nick as He rested his hands on her hips. ‘I’m going to miss you.’ He said softly. ‘I’ll be back on Sunday night.’ ‘The house is just so quiet without you here and Kasey goes crazy.’ ‘Kasey goes crazy all the time.’ Kerrie said smirking. ‘Yes she does.’ The sound of a beeping horn was heard. ‘There’s Kayte.’ Kerrie said. ‘Have a good time.’ Nick said kissing her again. ‘You too. Tell Brian I said hi.’ ‘I will, I’ll call you later.’ ‘Love you.’ Kerrie said kissing him again. ‘Love you too.’ Nick picked up Kerrie’s bag and brought it out to the waiting car outside. ‘Hey Kayte.’ Nick said putting the bag in the backseat. ‘Hi Nick, keep an eye on Rich for me. Don’t let him work to hard.’ ‘Have a good flight girls. See you Sunday.’ Kerrie waved as she got into the car and Kayte drove back down the driveway.

Ch 8
The girls got to the airport and checked their luggage in. Lucky they were on the same airline and their flights were going out of the terminal so they got coffees then waited for their flights. Kayte’s flight started boarding first. ‘Have fun in New York. See you Sunday.’ ‘Yea, our flights late around the same time so we can meet at the car.’ ‘Ok, bye.’ ‘Bye, Spaz.’ Kayte picked up her bag and went to board the plane. Kerrie’s flight began boarding about 15 minutes later. She boarded the plane and closed her eyes hoping to sleep during the flight. The flight passed by quickly and soon she was in Boston. Kerrie picked up her bag and got a cab to her parents house. When she rang the bell her mother gave her a big hug. ‘How are you hunny?’ ‘I’m good, Did you hear about Corie?’ ‘I did, I saw Paul yesterday and he mentioned you were going to see him.’ ‘I know what your going to say but I need to make sure things are ended for good.’ ‘I see your point. Let’s put these away and go get some lunch. I invited Brian, Tammy, and the kids. I hope you don’t mind.’ ‘I defiantly don’t I haven’t seen them in a long time.’ ‘They’ve gotten so big. I’ve been minding them once or twice a month.’ ‘That’s good, keeping you busy.’ Kerrie said walking to her old room and putting her bag on the bed. ‘How’s Nick?’ ‘He’s doing ok, helping Brian build some stuff this weekend. Rich is also going to help.’ ‘That’s good. How was Jessica’s bachelorette party?’ ‘The guys crashed it and we ended up spending most of the night with them so it wasn’t really a girls night out.’ ‘When I got married we had a blast. We went out to eat then went clubbing but the guys didn’t crash ours.’ Her mother said smiling. Ellen drove them to the Warren Tavern to meet Kerrie’s cousin and his family. When they stepped inside two little boys came running over. ‘Kerrie!’ The oldest said happily giving her a hug. ‘Hey Wil, Hi Colin. How have you boys been?’ She said giving Colin a hug. ‘We’re doing good. Baby Ella is good too.’ Wil said taking Kerrie’s hand and leading her to the table. Wil was now 7 years old, Colin was 5 and Ella was 8 months old. ‘Hey Kerrie, you look good.’ Brian said hugging his cousin. ‘Thanks.’ ‘Hi Tammy.’ Kerrie said sitting down. ‘How yea doing?’ She asked putting Ella’s bottle down. ‘Pretty good. Busy with all the testing at work.’ ‘It’s that time up here too. Next year Wil will start the state tests.’ Brian said. ‘Kerrie, we miss you. Our new baby-sitter doesn’t let us have popsicles.’ Wil said smiling. ‘I miss you guys too. Maybe mom and dad will let me watch you guys this week and we can have some pops.’ Kerrie said grinning. ‘Yea, please?’ Wil said looking to his parents. ‘That would be a good idea. We haven;t had a night out for a awhile.’ Tammy said. ‘Kerrie, what night is good for you?’ Tammy asked. ‘Monday or Tuesday.’ ‘How about Monday?’ ‘Sounds good to me.’ ‘Great.’ The lunch was full of laughs. Once they were done eating everyone went back to Ellen’s house for awhile. Kerrie took Wil and Colin to the park.

Ch 9
The next day was Saturday. Kerrie got up early and went to the hospital with her mother. ‘Kerrie, are you sure your ok to see him?’ ‘Mom, I have to.’ Kerrie took a deep breath as she knocked on the door. ‘Come in.’ Came Corie’s voice. ‘I’ll wait out here.’ Ellen said as Kerrie walked in leaving the door open. ‘You really came.’ Corie said smiling. ‘Corie, you need to let go of the past. We had something but it’s gone.’ Kerrie said sitting on the chair by his bed. ‘Kerrie, I still love you. Every day I keep thinking that your gonna walk through the door.’ ‘I’m sorry, Corie. I’m in love with Nick, I have been for a long time.’ ‘During our relationship?’ ‘Yes.’ Kerrie said quietly. ‘He’s a lucky guy. I guess there is nothing I can do to change your mind.’ ‘Corie, it was nice while it lasted.’ Kerrie said half smiling. ‘Good luck.’ ‘Thanks, you too. Do you need anything before I go?’ ‘No, I’m fine.’ He said quietly. ‘Bye Corie.’ Kerrie said getting up. ‘Thanks for stopping by.’ Kerrie nodded and walked out the door as she hear him break down crying. For a second she stopped and looked back but then continued walking. ‘Done already?’ Ellen asked her daughter. ‘Yea.’ ‘I’m so proud of you, hunny.’ She said hugging her as Kerrie wiped a tear that had fallen down her cheek. ‘Why are you upset?’ ‘I just feel like a jerk. When I walked out of the room he started crying.’ Kerrie mumbled. ‘I think he finally realized that you’ve moved on and are happy with someone else.’ They walked to the car and drove home. Kerrie relaxed for a few hours before going to the baby shower of her former coworker and good friend, Kelly. Back at the house Nick called to check and see how the visit went. ‘Hello?’ Ellen said picking up the phone. ‘Hi Ellen, it’s Nick. How are you?’ ‘Good and you?’ ‘I’m doing ok. I just wanted to check up and see how the visit to the hospital went today.’ ‘It went well. We were not there long but Corie seemed to finally realize that their relationship is completely over.’ ‘That’s a relief, when he called the other day it really seemed to bother her. I wasn’t too sure that going to visit him was a good idea.’ ‘When she told me I thought the same thing. I think she did do the right thing though, finally some closure for both of them.’ ‘Is she ok?’ ‘Yea, she was a little upset but she’s fine now. She left for the baby shower an hour ago.’ ‘Thanks, Ellen.’ ‘Anytime. Have a nice night, Nick.’ ‘You too, bye.’ ‘Bye.’

Ch 10
The baby shower was fun. Kelly was glowing and everyone had a good time. As Kerrie walked to the car her phone rang. ‘Hello?’ ‘Hi Kerrie, how was the shower?’ Kayte asked. ‘It was great. Kelly and the baby are doing good.’ ‘Thanks good.’ ‘How’s New York?’ ‘Busy, how did things go with Corie?’ ‘Good, it’s finally over.’ ‘That’s good to hear. I better get back to my shoot. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Give the baby a kiss for me.’ ‘Kayte, you don’t even like babies.’ Kerrie said laughing. ‘Just make it look good.’ Kayte said. ‘Ok, bye.’ ‘Bye.’ Kerrie shook her head as she stopped to say good bye to a few girls she knew. Back in Florida..... Jessica was on the phone going over the final wedding details with the planner. ‘Just think in three weeks this will all be over.’ Her planner, Susie said. ‘Then I’ll have nothing to fuss over.’ Jessica said laughing. ‘Tomorrow we have the final meeting with the caters at 1pm. I’ll see you then.’ ‘Thanks so much, Susie. See you tomorrow.’ ‘Bye.’ Jessica hung up the phone as she walked into the room to see what Brad was doing. He was sitting at the computer replying to fan mail. ‘What yea doing?’ Jessica asked sitting on the edge of the desk. ‘Just keeping up with the fan mail.’ ‘Are you going to come to meet the cater tomorrow?’ She asked giving him a cute look. ‘Sure, what time?’ ‘At 1.’ ‘Ok, I’ll go for a bit then I need to go check on the new band I’m working with.’ ‘Great. I’m gonna go start dinner.’ Jessica walked into the kitchen grinning. The next day her and Brad met with Susie and the caters. Everything went well except for Brad leaving half way through the meeting but that was expected. Late Monday night Kerrie and Kayte returned from their trips. When Kayte pulled up to Kerrie and Nick’s house Nick and the dogs were outside waiting. ‘Bye Kayte, thanks for the ride.’ ‘I’ll call you later in the week.’ Kerrie grabbed her bags and waved as her sister drove off. ‘I missed you.’ Kerrie said hugging Nick. ‘I missed you to. Let’s go inside.’

Ch 11
‘How was your flight?’ ‘It was ok.’ Kerrie said flopping on the couch. ‘I’m glad your home.’ Nick said sitting next to her and putting an arm around her shoulder. ‘How did the building go?’ ‘It took us awhile but we figured it out.’ Nick said laughing. ‘I talked to my cousin the other night. He and his wife are coming to Florida next week. He’s speaking in Orlando and I invited them down here for a few days.’ ‘Which cousin is this?’ ‘Ralph, the one who lives in New Mexico.’ ‘Oh yea, we visited him last summer. He’s a nice guy and his wife was pretty funny.’ ‘I was thinking of planning a little party while they are here.’ ‘Sure, anything you want.’ ‘Thanks.’ Kerrie and Nick continued talking about their weekends before going to bed. Kerrie woke up early the next morning for work. She left a note for Nick reminding him that she was staying late for parent conferences. Back in Orlando Kayte was going shopping with Jessica. ‘The wedding is coming fast.’ Kayte said sipping on her coffee. ‘Yea, I’m getting nervous.’ ‘You could always elope like we did.’ Kayte said laughing. ‘Yea, right I put to much time and effort into planning the wedding.’ ‘I was just kidding. I started planning a big wedding then I said the hell with it and we hoped on a plan to Vegas.’ ‘You two are so carefree.’ Jessica said looking through the dress racks trying to find something to wear for the rehearsal dinner. ‘What about this?’ Kayte asked holding up a light blue dress. ‘That’s cute.’ Jessica said walking over to get a better look. ‘Go try it on.’ Kayte said. Jessica tried on the dress and loved it so now she had a dress for the rehearsal dinner. Kayte found one for herself also it was a pale yellow with a few designs on it. They went out for lunch before heading to Jessica and Brad’s house to watch a movie.

Ch 12
It was finally the day of Brad and Jessica’s wedding. Nick and Kerrie were in Orlando staying with Kayte and Rich. The wedding was at 2pm. Kayte left the house at 9am to go meet up with Jessica and the other brides maids. Rich left at 11 to meet with Brad, his brothers, and Devin. At 1:30 Kerrie and Nick met the other guys and their girlfriends at the church. ‘I can’t believe it. Brad is getting married.’ AJ said shaking his head as the group of them walked up the steps. ‘Hey everyone.’ Rich said as a nervous Brad also walked over. ‘Thanks for coming, everyone.’ Brad said before resuming his pacing. On the other side of the hallway Kayte was standing outside the door. ‘Kerrie, get over here. We need your help.’ Kerrie walked into the room to see that Jessica’s hair was a mess and she was sobbing. ‘What happened?’ ‘I wanted it to be curly and Sara got a brush stuck.’ Jessica said crying. ‘Calm down. We can fix this. Let’s wet your hair and blow dry it.’ ‘Kerrie, we have 20 minutes.’ Kayte said nervously. ‘I can do it. Everyone take a deep breath.’ Kerrie wet Jessica’s hair and then blew dried it while Kayte fixed her make-up. With 5 minutes left she quickly curled her hair. ‘Thank you so much.’ Jessica said giving her a hug. ‘Not a problem.’ Kerrie went to go sit down. ‘What happened?’ Nick asked. ‘Just a small hair mishap. All taken care of.’ Not two minutes later music started and everyone stood up. The bridesmaids followed by the flower girl and ring bearer walked down the isle. Everyone became silent as Jessica stood in the doorway with her father. A huge smile crossed Brad’s face as well as Jessica’s. She started walking down the isle as everyone’s eyes watched her. When she finally reached Brad her father gave Brad her hand and then sat down with his wife. The rest of the ceremony was perfect and by the end almost everyone was in tears. After Brad and Jessica walked out of the church AJ looked at Nicole who was wiping her tears. ‘What? Weddings always get me.’ She said shrugging. The reception was held at a nearby hotel in the ballroom. Kerrie half smiled as she saw the wedding party outside taking pictures. ‘I hope things work out for them.’ She thought to herself.

Ch 13
The reception started off well. After a few minutes the DJ stopped the music and annoucned the newlyweds. ‘I’d like you all to welcome for the first time Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Fischetti.’ Everyone applauded as they couple walked in followed by the wedding party. Once dinner was over it was time for the first dance. Half way through the dance the wedding party joined the happy couple on the floor. After the song was over the DJ played more upbeat songs so almost everyone was on the dance floor. Soon it was time for the toasts. Kayte spoke first followed by Rich. ‘Brad has been a good friend of mine for several years. During our years on the road Brad and Devin were always looking to met someone. This started when I met Kayte but Brad didn’t seem to be as lucky until Jessica came along. When he met Jessica I saw a change in him right away. I think anyone who knew Brad before he met Jessica saw this change and knew she was the girl for him. To Brad and Jessica.’ Rich said holding up his glass and everyone drank. ‘Where are they going on their honeymoon?’ Nicole asked. ‘Italy, it took them a long time to choose.’ Jessica came walking over. ‘Kerrie, you really saved the day thanks so much.’ She said hugging her. ‘Not a problem. I’m just glad I could help.’ Jessica went to go speak to some more guests as Kayte dragged Kerrie to go dance. ‘Your toast was nice.’ Kerrie said smirking. ‘It’s hard to figure about what to say.’ 2 hours later Brad and Jessica left for the honeymoon and the party came to an end. Even though the wedding and reception where over it was something no one would forget.

Ch 14
Jessica and Brad had a great honeymoon they were gone for two weeks. Kerrie’s cousin came down the following week. With some help from Kayte she planned a BBQ. Kerrie’s cousin had a good time hanging out with the guys. His wife mentioned to him that going into political debates while visiting people and for once he did keep off the topic. He did talk about his trip to Africa during the summer and what he saw there. After the BBQ AJ announced that he had given Nicole a promise ring on her birthday. She was thinking of moving in with AJ once the semester was over. The day after her cousin left Kerrie wasn’t feeling to good. She called out sick from work and spent most of the day in bed. Nick was going to stay home but Kerrie encouraged him to go out thinking that she was just over tired. After waking up from a nap Kerrie sat up in shock. She ran over to the calendar and looked at the dates. Kerrie walked back and forth thinking before getting dressed and driving to the store. She bought two tests and went home. She took them both right away then sat in the bedroom looking at the clock. When the time had past she went in and looked at the test. When she saw the results she didn’t know what to feel so she started crying. Nick came home an hour later to see her sitting on the floor crying. ‘Kerrie, what’s wrong? Are you ok?’ He asked helping her up. ‘Just give me a minute.’ She said wiping her tears. ‘Kerrie, your making me nervous.’ Nick said as Kerrie half smiled. ‘We’re gonna have a baby.’ She said. A huge smile crossed Nick’s face. ‘This is great, why are you crying then?’ ‘I’m just so happy.’ She said sitting next to him on the bed. ‘When did you find out?’ ‘I just took the test. I want to make a doctors appointment before we tell anyone ok?’ ‘Anything you want.’ He said kissing her. ‘I’m gonna go make an appointment ok?’ Kerrie said. ‘Ok.’ She walked into the other room and made an appointment for two days later. Nick canceled his plans for the day so he could go with her.

Ch 15
Finally it was time for the appointment. Kerrie and Nick sat in the waiting room until the doctor finally called them in. ‘Ms. Hingston and Mr. Carter, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Doctor Riley.’ ‘I looked over your charts and I see you took an at home test as well as a test before this appointment. ‘ Kerrie nodded. ‘Ok, let’s have you hope on the table and we’ll give you an ultrasound.’ Kerrie got on the table as Doctor Riley put the gel on her lower stomach. ‘It looks like your about 10 weeks along.’ She turned the screen so they could see. A huge smile crossed Nick’s face as he squeezed Kerrie’s hand. The doctor went over everything with them before scheduling an appointment for the following month. When they got back to the house Kerrie sat on the couch looking at the lists the doctor have given them. ‘Boy or girl?’ Nick asked. ‘We won’t know until at least 18 to 20 weeks.’ Kerrie said smiling. ‘I’ll be happy with either.’ Nick said sitting next to her and putting an arm around her shoulder. ‘How about we wait to tell everyone till after the next appointment?’ Kerrie asked. ‘Anything you want.’ Nick said kissing her forehead. ‘Spaz?’ ‘Hmm...’ ‘Will you marry me?’ He asked suddenly. Kerrie sat up a bit suprised. ‘You can think about it if you want.’ He said a but unsure of himself. Kerrie hugged him. ‘Nick, I love you. Yes.’ She said giving him a kiss. ‘I love you too.’ Nick said kissing her. Nick went to go make dinner as Kerrie laid on the couch flipping through TV stations. Two days later Kayte and Rich came over for dinner and right away Kayte picked up her sister was acting different. ‘What’s up with you?’ Kayte asked when she got her sister alone. ‘Nothing.’ ‘Kerrie, don’t lie to me.’ Kayte said with her hands on her hips. ‘Ok, Nick and I are getting married.’ ‘When?’ Kayte asked hugging her sister. ‘In a month of two. That’s why we wanted you two to come over and possibly help us put things together.’ ‘We’d love to. Did I ruin the suprise?’ Kayte asked suddenly feeling bad for jumping on her. ‘No, I’m sure Nick is telling Rich now.’ ‘This is so great.’ Kayte said as they walked into the other room. Kerrie was right Nick was talking to Rich about the wedding. Kayte made a few phone calls and found a wedding planer that was willing to work on the wedding in such a short time. Over the next two weeks Kayte spent a lot of time with Kerrie helping her pick things out. One day they were in a mall and walked by a kids store and Kerrie’s face lit up. Kayte noticed this right away but didn’t say anything. ‘Come on, let’s go in.’ Kerrie said as Kayte followed her. ‘Is there something you want to tell me? Not that I can’t tell.’ Kayte finally said. ‘Oh gosh, did I put on that much weight already?’ Kerrie asked as Kayte shook her head. ‘Kayte, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner but I wanted to wait till the 12 week marker.’ Kerrie said hoping Kayte wasn’t offended. ‘I had a feeling that night when you told me about the wedding.’ Kayte said hugging her. ‘When are you going to tell everyone else?’ ‘At the wedding. I’m gonna tell mom and dad when they get down here a few days before the wedding.’ ‘I’m happy for you.’ Kayte said smiling.

Ch 16
A month passed and the wedding was a week away. Kerrie’s parents had just arrived that afternoon they told her parents about the pregnancy. Kerrie’s mother was ecstatic, what made her even more excited was that Kerrie invited her to the doctors appointment the next day. Kerrie’s father was also happy about the idea of being a grandfather. The appointment the next day went well. Kerrie’s mother loved the fact that the doctor printed out another set of pictures of the baby for her. As the wedding approached more of Kerrie’s family started to arrive as well as Nick’s. Since it was going to be a small ceremony there wasn’t going to be any bridesmaids or groomsmen just a maid of honor and best man. Kayte was going to be the maid of honor and Aaron was going to be the best man. The day of the wedding arrived quickly. Kerrie picked out a simple wedding dress that was loose fitting enough that you could not tell she was pregnant. The wedding was beautiful and everyone was in tears by the time they exchanged vows that they each had written. After the wedding was a lovely reception. At the reception Nick made the announcement that they were having a child. That seemed to make the day a lot more special. After the reception Nick and Kerrie went down to the Keys for a few weeks. By the time they came back from their honeymoon Kerrie was really showing. Not two weeks after they came back they got a call from Brad and Jessica saying that they were also expecting a child. From then on Jessica and Kerrie spent a great deal of time on the phone talking about things they read or ideas for a baby’s room.

Ch 17
As the months past Kerrie and Nick went back to Boston for her baby shower that her mother planned. Kayte planned one in Florida for her and Jessica for two weeks later. All of Kerrie’s relatives and friends were at the rather large baby shower. Some of the supplies such as a crib and changing table Kerrie left at her parents house for when they visited. Kayte spent a great deal of time planning the double baby shower even though it wasn’t going to be a large shower. Kerrie knew she was having a boy while Jessica didn’t want to know. Before going to the restaurant where the shower was being held Kerrie sat on the couch looking at a book. Kerrie knew about the shower but it was going to be a suprise for Jessica. Brad and Nick were meeting the girls there. Nick was dropping Kerrie off at Kayte’s house and then the girls were going to pick up Jessica. When Kerrie arrived at the house Kayte was packing up the car. ‘Look at you!’ Kayte said as her sister got out of the car. For being 6 months pregnant Kerrie was already pretty big. ‘I know I feel like a whale.’ Kerrie mumbled so Nick couldn’t hear her. ‘You do not. Kerrie, you look great.’ Kerrie rolled her eyes. ‘See you girls in a bit.’ Nick said before driving off. ‘Come on or we’ll be late.’ Kayte said getting into the car. ‘Easy for you.’ Kerrie said struggling to get into the front seat. Kayte got out of the car and helped her sister into the car then they went to pick up Jessica. She was standing outside waiting for them. Jessica was five months pregnant but she wasn’t nearly as big as Kerrie. ‘Lucky you.’ Kerrie said as Jessica got into the car. ‘Hi girls.’ Jessica said happily. ‘Good morning.’ Kayte said. ‘How yea feeling?’ Kerrie asked. ‘I’m doing ok. How about you?’ ‘I’m tired as hell.’ Kerrie said as Kayte started towards the restaurant. 15 minutes later they arrived. Jessica thought they were going out to breakfast so she had no idea what was really going on. As they walked through the door everyone yelled “Suprise!”. Jessica was in shock. After breakfast they opened gifts as well as played a few games. By the time the baby shower was over both girls were exhausted. ‘You looked wiped.’ Nick said as Kerrie got into the car. ‘I am.’ She said yawning. ‘When we get home you should take a nap.’ ‘I agree.’ She said as Nick drove onto the road.

Ch 18
During the ride home Kerrie fell asleep in the front seat. When they arrived at home Nick genitally carried her inside and up to their room. Kerrie slept for another 2 hours before waking up very hungary. She made her way down stairs to see Nick watching TV. ‘Have a nice nap?’ He asked. ‘Yea, thanks for brining me in.’ She said smiling. Kerrie walked into the kitchen and started to put together dinner. ‘Let me help you.’ Nick said coming into the kitchen. ‘I can do it. Pretty soon I’m not gonna be able to move around out here.’ She said laughing. Nick put some water on to boil as Kerrie put some chicken in the oven. ‘Are you going to go to the studio with me tomorrow? I just have that short meeting and then we can go to your appointment.’ Kerrie nodded. Nick rested his hands on Kerrie’s stomach as the baby kicked. ‘Easy there, Kiera.’ Kerrie smiled, Nick was constantly talking to the baby and using her name all the time. ‘She loves her dad.’ Kerrie said smiling. They went in the living room to watch some TV while dinner was cooking. ‘Do you think she’ll be a red head?’ Nick asked. ‘I hope so. My grandfather, my mom, and my aunt, and uncle all had red hair when they were young.’ ‘I hope so to.’ ‘You won’t say that when she’s a teenager. Red heads are very stubborn.’ ‘I wouldn’t say stubborn, I’d say strong willed.’ Kerrie just smiled. After dinner Kerrie went to bed and Nick went to work on the nursery. Kerrie tried to help out but she couldn’t do much. The room was already painted a pale yellow with a duck boarder. All of the furnature was bought and most of it was built but Nick wanted to build some on his own. Kerrie woke up 2 hours later to banging and a yell. She walked across the hall to see Nick kicking a piece of wood from the crib. ‘Are you ok?’ Kerrie asked. ‘Yea, these things are not fitting together.’ ‘Why don’t you take a break? You can finish this another time.’ Nick nodded. ‘Sorry I woke you up.’ ‘I needed to get up for some water anyway.’

Ch 19
The next day Kerrie’s appointment went well. The doctor wanted her to take it easy and limit physical activities. Kayte visited frequently bringing Jessica with her about once a week. At her appointment the next month the doctor put her on a full bed rest. Kerrie’s mother flew down and was staying at the house. Kerrie was 9 months pregnant and was tired of sitting around. ‘Kerrie, relax you could be in bed for sometime.’ ‘Mom, this baby needs to be born soon. Laying here all the time is killing me.’ Kayte came in the room with Jessica. ‘Hey you.’ Kayte said happily. ‘Hi.’ Kerrie mumbled. ‘You don’t look to happy.’ Jessica said sitting down in a chair. ‘She’s not, my daughter was just complaining about being on bed rest.’ Ellen said before leaving the room. ‘Any day now Kiera will make her appearance.’ Jessica said as Kayte nodded. ‘I hope she makes her appearance soon.’ Kerrie said half smiling. ‘Here I brought you a strawberry shake.’ Kayte said hanging her sister the cup in her hand. ‘Thanks, I’ve been craving one of these like nobody’s business.’ Kayte just laughed shaking her head. ‘When’s your next appointment?’ ‘Next week.’ The girls continued chatting for an hour before Kerrie took a nap. Kayte and Jessica wet down stairs to see Ellen working on kiting a blanket. ‘That’s coming out great, Mom.’ Kayte said. ‘Thanks, hopefully I’ll have it done before Kiera’s born.’ Nick came up from the basement with Brian. ‘Hi girls. How’s mommy to be?’ Nick asked. ‘She’s sleeping now.’ ‘That’s good she was up most of the night.’ ‘I should be heading back. I’m meeting Jamie for dinner.’ ‘Ok, see yea tomorrow. Your still gonna come over tomorrow with AJ right?’ ‘Yup and the girls are brining movies to watch upstairs.’ Brian headed out the door as the girls also said their good-byes.

Ch 20
At Kerrie’s appointment the next day the doctor said she could go into labor anytime. So another appointment was scheduled in two days to check her progress. Kerrie was excited by the idea and couldn’t wait to tell the girls when they were coming over that afternoon. She was sitting on the bed reading her book with Nicole and Jamie came up their stairs with snacks and movies. ‘Hey girls.’ Kerrie said smiling. ‘Your very happy.’ Jamie said. ‘Yea, the doctor says any day and I can’t wait.’ Kerrie said grinning. ‘That’s awesome.’ The girls decided to watch “Center Stage”. They laughed and joked around and after the movie they flipped through the TV stations and stopped on an episode of Dawon’s Creek. ‘I used to love this show.’ Kerrie said munching on some chips. ‘Look it’s the last episode.’ Jamie said. ‘This is a tear jerker.’ Nicole said as Kerrie nodded. About half way through the show Kerrie grabbed her side. ‘Kerrie, are you ok?’ Jamie asked. ‘I think so.’ She said trying to sit up but it felt worse. ‘Maybe not.’ She muttered. ‘I’ll go get Nick.’ Nicole said running down the stairs as Jamie helped Kerrie up. ‘Come on let’s start down stairs.’ Jamie said picking up Kerrie’s already packed bag. Ellen met them on the stairs. ‘Nick’s bringing ther car out front and Nicole is calling the hospital.’ Ellen said grabbing her daughter’s other arm. They got into the car rather quiickly and the hospital was a short drive. On the way there Ellen called her husband and he was getting the next flight out as well as Kayte who was on her way. Four hours later Kiera Carter was born. ‘I think she looks like her mom.’ Nick said kissing Kerrie’s head. A month later Zachary Fischetti was born. Right away Kerrie and Jessica set up play groups for the two babies every other week. As time past they became great friends.
