Ch 1
Kaylee Robbins stood in the room and looked at the table of elders. ‘She looks just like Kristen.’ One of them muttered. ‘Why am I here?’ The 16 year old asked. ‘I think you know as well as we do that you have some special skills.’ The one man at the table said resting his chin in his folded hands. Kaylee managed a nod. ‘I know you have been raised by a witch, a very deceitful one at best. She took you from your mother for her own profit. Do you have any idea of your family line?’ The eldest women asked. ‘Tabitha told me that my mom died when I was born. She said that my mom wanted her to raise me.’ Kaylee said not looking up. ‘Tabitha!’ One of the women said as a women dressed in all black came limping forward using her cane for support. ‘Tabitha Johnston I charge you with keeping a rightful heir away from her throne and trying to teach her in the art of black magic.’ The man boomed as two young men stepped forward and took her away. ‘What is going to happen to me?’ Kaylee asked tears welding up in her eyes. ‘You will be trained in the art of healing and fighting. Kaylee, you are the last decedent of the Earth line and upon your 21st birthday you will take the seat as the head of the council. Seeing you have no elders to guide you, we the elders will each train you in our art. Thomas will train you in potions, Louis will train you in history, Sandra will train you in spells, Jacqueline will train you in travel, Phyllis will train you in animals, Fanny will train you in healing, and my nephew Kristopher will train you in fighting. Kristopher, Walter, Blake, Julius, George, and Xavier will be your body guards. At least one of them will be with you at all times while you are here in the mother house in Salem. if you need to leave the mother hour at least 2 of them will be with you, most likely more.’ ‘Aunt Ruth, I will arrange a specialty traveling team.’ ‘Always a step ahead. As you might have guessed Kris will be the head of your security all of his men will guard you with their life.’ Ruth stood up. ‘Sebrina, help get Kaylee settled. We’ll set up a schedule of classes and let you know by dinner. Some of these lessons will of course take place in out other houses around the world. Welcome home, Kaylee.’ Kaylee couldn’t believe it, just yesterday she was a normal high school student working in an occult story on Pickering Wharf now she was an heir to a throne. Tabitha had always told her she was special but Kaylee didn’t have the heart to do any of the black magic her “mother” taught her. ‘Blake, why me?’ She asked the only person she had met before. It was Blake who found her working in the store and told his elders about the incredible aura he felt. Thomas went to the store and saw Kristen Sloan in this young girl’s face. It was his distant relative that was her father, that let her mother die at the hands of a lycan. Thomas always felt guilty that his great nephew had let her die only to save his life. Richard had killed himself not a month later when he thought that his daughter was also dead.
Ch 2
Two years later...
Shane Filan walked into the large mansion with a folder. He was one of trainers, and was one of the strongest vampires in his order. As with all vampires strength came with age and he was almost 500 years old. Once a vampire reached 200 years they took their first big sleep which was for 25 years, each sleep helps a vampire retain strength. The next big sleep was for a 50 years once you reach 400 years. After 500 years sleep usually takes place over at least 200 years whenever the vampire chooses. Now all the the old vampires are asleep, they are board with the currant world and will awake up when they sense things are to their liking. ‘This came from America.’ He said handing it to Dante, the head of his order. ‘Ahh... old Professor Wilson, he says that he wants the 5 houses to meet.’ Dante scanned the letter. ‘He wants us to meet with the lycans and slayers? That’s a damn death wish.’ Shane said sitting on the edge of the desk. ‘Needless to say, members of the White Counsel will be attending. This might be worth our while. The Counsel has already asked us for help about those pesky American vampires.’ Shane laughed showing his razor sharp fangs. ‘Those despicable creatures that are causing so many problems.’ ‘Shane, don’t be foolish. An alliance with the White Counsel could give us great help. I think we need to send a team to the meeting. That’s it you can pick a team to start liquidating the American vamps and you can head the team to attend the Salem meeting.’ ‘Me? I’m hardly qualified.’ ‘Your more the qualified. Do it.’ Dante growled as he threw the file at Shane and left the room. ‘Damn him.’ Shane said looking at the file. ‘I should get to work. I only have a week to set this damn excursion and pick a team.’ He said walking towards his room. As Shane walked he saw Lise sitting at a window with a book on her lap. Lise was a researcher for their order and hadn’t left the house in over 6 months. Her curly hair was pulled back in a ponytail and her green eyes were fixed on some movement outside. ‘Lise, you haven’t been on a mission in awhile. Are you up for one?’ He asked. ‘Where?’ ‘America, we’re going to Salem, MA. Professor Wilson is calling a meeting.’ ‘A meeting for vampires?’ ‘No, lycans, slayers, witches, and researchers.’ ‘Sounds interesting. I’m in.’ ‘Great. I want you to leave tomorrow and check out the area. Either Emre or Seth will go with you.’ ‘Shane, I am no child. I don’t need one of your thugs to protect me.’ ‘Lise, your the only active decedent of Marcus Corvinus in our house.’ ‘I’m nearly 300 years old. If I can’t do the research alone then then I don’t want to go.’ ‘Dante will kill me if I let you go alone.’ ‘I’ll see about that.’ Lise picked up her book and walked off towards the lounge.
Ch 3
Nicky Bryne awoke in a cold sweat again, for the last 6 months he had dreamt of her. She was calling to him for help. He had no idea who she was or where she was calling from. ‘Only 5 am.’ He groaned. Nicky knew that he’d never get back to sleep so he signed onto his computer. ‘Who the hell is Professor Wilson?’ Nicky said opening an e-mail. ‘Dear Mr. Bryne, I know of your family's experience in the occult and I would like for your to come to an import meeting in Salem, MA next week. A representative the the lycans, vampires, and White Counsel have already agreed to attend. I’m sure the slayers will also send someone, this meeting is of great importance. An alliance must be formed . Please respond promptly with a reply. I hope to see you in Salem, Professor Bernard Wilson.’ Nicky shook his head and printed the e-mail. He walked into the kitchen and faxed the e-mail to his father’s office in Dublin before going back to a restless sleep. Sure he didn’t know who she was but now he had an idea. Her hair was auburn and her eyes were dark blue. She always seemed trapt. 5 days latter Nicky walked into the large office in the sky scraper his father had built nearly 30 years ago. ‘Mr. Bryne, here’s the research data on lycans, vampires, and slayers. The information on the White Counsel is a bit harder to find.’ ‘Roberta, I have no doubt in my mind that you will be able to deliver it to me before I leave for the meeting in 2 hours.’ With that he opened his office door and walked in. ‘I have never had to meet with these people and creatures before. What is this crazy guy thinking.’ Nicky mumbled to himself as he walked over to his supply closet and started stalking up on weapons. ‘Lets see, I think some wooden stakes and a gun with silver bullets should be good.’ ‘What are you going to do about the slayers? I’m sure they are more apt to fighting then you are.’ His father said from the doorway. ‘I should be able to hold my own. Do you know anything about Professor Wilson and why he wants all of us to meet?’ ‘He’s a Professor of the Occult at Salem State College in Massachusetts. Wilson is one of the few people that has made communication with the White Counsel. He found the last living heir to the Earth line.’ ‘But that line died 16 years ago.’ ‘The last girl had a baby in secret and gave it up for adoption since she was 15 at the time. Of course she died the next year, killed by a lycon. Her father was a distant relative of the head of the fire line. They found her almost two years ago and have been training her.’ ‘Training her?’ ‘She’ll be the head of the Counsel once she turns 21. They most likely already have a husband lined up for her.’ ‘That must be exciting.’ Nicky said as he finished packing his supplies. ‘Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you?’ His father asked. ‘I’m sure, I have Roberta and Lenny going with me.’ ‘Be careful. Do you have a hotel and everything set up?’ ‘Yes, we’re going to stay at the hotel we’re meeting at. The Hawthorne Hotel is legendary. One of the rooms is haunted.’ ‘Are you going to look into it when you go?’ ‘I suppose so. Salem, MA has so much supernatural history I’m going to keep myself busy.’ ‘You could always extend your trip.’ ‘I might have to, depending on the outcome of the meeting.’ ‘Have a good trip, stay safe.’ ‘I will.’ Nicky slung his bag over his shoulder and went down the hall for a short meeting before he had to go to the airport.
Ch 4
Kian Egan looked at the e-mail on his computer. ‘This is a bit crazy.’ He said printing the e-mail and handing it to Camilla. The two were seeing each other but slayers didn’t put their relationship first, their first duty was to get any given job done. ‘Jacob wants us to do this?’ ‘Yea, and he was the one who said America was too risky for us now.’ ‘It must be pretty important then.’ ‘We should get ready to go. We leave tomorrow morning.’ ‘Plus we have the job to finish tonight.’ Camilla pushed her blonde hair over her shoulder and went to go pack. Kian shook his head and wrote back to Jacob before be also went to pack. That night Kian, Camilla, and their team finished their job in Italy. Over the past week they had wiped out a colony to vampires, the vampires were young and careless. Kian figured they must have been from America and got run out of the country. With this job done the team got ready for their next job. Kian was the leader of the team and had grown up a slayer. He killed his first vampire when he was 12 years old. Camilla didn’t become a slayer until she was 16, one of her distant relatives began training her so she could protect herself against the growing number of lycans in Denmark. The two had met when Kian’s team entered Denmark to take care of the lycons. Camilla’s family had been wiped out except for her and her great uncle who trained her. He begged Kian to take her away and she became a member of the team. They were attracted to each other from the start but a relationship didn’t develop until 2 years ago. Jacob warned them about the issues that may come about and Kian often feared about what could happen to Camilla. She was strong but she wasn’t a born slayer. Kian was of a very strong bloodline and could take out a coven of vampires or even a pack of lycans by himself. Camilla was a good fighter but could only manage one lycon or vampire at a time. When the team arrived in Boston they got picked up by a van and were taken to a hotel outside of Salem. The meeting was in 3 days but Kian sent out two of the team to check out the hotel they would be meeting in and Kian went to go watch Professor Wilson. ‘Ahh... the infamous Kian Egan, the most feared slayer in Europe.’ The elderly man said walking down the steps of Salem State College. ‘How do you know who I am?’ ‘Jacob told me you were coming. You have such a following online. Is the rest of your team here?’ ‘Yes they are.’ ‘Let me guess, checking out the area?’ ‘That’s the typical procedure.’ ‘As it is for the lycans and vampires. I want you to know that we are all at peace until the meeting. I have already spoken to the other leaders.’ ‘They are also here?’ ‘The vampires have been here for 5 days. The lycans arrived last night.’ ‘What about the researchers?’ ‘I’m assuming tomorrow. Of course the counsel is already here. They are the ones making sure that peace is kept.’ ‘I should be going. It was nice to meet you.’ ‘The same for me. Feel free to come by my class tomorrow morning or tonight.’ ‘Maybe I will.’ ‘This building in room 300.’ With that Kian started walking back to Pickering Wharf to meet up with the other members.
Ch 5
Mark walked into the inner layer of the lycan headquarters underneath London. He was the leader of the Irish lycans and came for a meeting of all the European leaders. Mark was a only 125 years old but was given the position of a leader after his father passed away 15 years ago. ‘Your late.’ Gerhard, the German leader, boomed. ‘Sorry....’ Mark took a seat next to his sister, Annie, and waited for Alex to start. Alex was the leader of the lycans, his grandfather was William Corvinus who was now asleep in a deep cavern. Alex’s father, Francis, was also in the cavern asleep. This was not typical of lycans but both were sick of ruling and did not want to kill themselves for fear of what could happen to the future of all lycans. Alex was 300 and took the throne nearly a 100 years before. He loved the power but was having a tough time taking control of the American lycans. Only a few packs recognized him as their leader and listened to his requests. The other lycans did as they pleased and many of them had been killed by Alex’s guards when they refused his orders. ‘My friends, I have recieved a letter from a Professor Bernard Wilson of Salem State College in Massachusetts. He would like us to send representatives to Salem for a meeting. Vampires, slayers, researchers, and witches will also be attending. Who thinks we should go?’ ‘What witches are attending?’ Ibrahim, the Middle Eastern leader, asked. ‘Members of the White Counsel.’ Alex said dryly. ‘I would go if the Black Counsel was attending.’ Gerhard added. ‘The Black Counsel was dissolved nearly 200 years ago.’ Mark said. ‘I have a feeling that this meeting may have something to do with that.’ Alex’s mate, Helena, said. Helena was a witch and managed to hang onto some of her former powers that’s why Alex hasn’t tired of her in the 150 years they have been together. ‘Trace, Richie, Yolanda? You are my adventurous leaders.’ Alex said sitting on the edge of the table. Everyone was silent until Mark spoke up. ‘I’ll go.’ He said standing up. ‘Ahh... I have to say I’m surprised. Mark, your a good leader but I fear that the other leaders may take advantage of you. I’ll set up a team to go with you along with whoever you want.’ Mark looked to Annie and she nodded. ‘Only us, you can choose anyone else.’ Mark said as Alex nodded. ‘Ok meeting adjourned. Return to your countries and I’ll send an update soon.’ Mark stayed behind as the room emptied. ‘Are you sure your up to it?’ Helena asked as Alex picked up a pile of papers. ‘I want to serve you my lord.’ Mark said bowing his head. ‘I’m sure he’ll do just fine. Here is all of your travel plans. My team will meet you there.’ Mark took the papers and headed out of the lair. Once he was above ground he looked to the sky and he heard the howl of a wolf. He walked over to nearby park and spotted a wolf looking at him. Mark laughed and shook his head. ‘Roger, you haven’t changed.’ Mark said as the wolf changed back into his human form. ‘How was the meeting?’ ‘Ok, how do you know about the meeting?’ ‘I know everything, London is my home.’ ‘Even though Alex hates you.’ ‘Alex hates me for something I couldn’t prevent. Kian is the best slayer I’ve faced in my 200 years as a lycan. I fought hard to save his sister.’ Roger said looking around the park. ‘When are you leaving?’ ‘In 2 days.’ ‘I’m actually thinking of leaving London. Paris could use a little bit of excitement.’ ‘Would Nicolette welcome you?’ ‘She would more then welcome me. Nicolette has been looking for a mate for over 50 years.’ ‘You would suit her well.’ ‘I’ll most likely be gone before you return. Have fun in America.’ With that Roger turned back into a wolf and took off through the park growling at a passing couple. Mark walked through the streets for awhile before going to catch his helicopter for a ride home.
Ch 6
Mark walked into the innner layer of his headquarters under Sligo. ‘Took you long enough.’ Annie said flipping through TV stations. ‘I stopped to talk to Roger.’ ‘Ahh... why do you still talk to him?’ ‘Roger, is a good friend. I saved my life, if it wasn’t for him Kian would have killed me.’ Mark said handing Annie the papers Alex gave him. ‘He will be there yea know. Will I have to protect you?’ She asked smirking. ‘I can handel myself just fine.’ ‘Right, I’m sure Alex will send some of his best guards. He would never trust me ruling Ireland.’ ‘Some day you’ll make an extellent leader.’ ‘That will happen when hell freezes over. Alex thinks I’m a silly little girl and has be followed everywhere.’ ‘Some of the time you need to be followed. You are careless at times.’ ‘Right, who was the one who tried to take on the slayers for his 121st Birthday?’ ‘Let’s not talk about that. I was young and thought-’ ‘You thought you could be the one to take the powerful Kian Egan down?’ ‘Your right, I thought I could. I tried but he took down everyone except Roger and I. Roger and I foungt hard and made it out there with out lives.’ ‘Maybe we will have the chance at the meeting. The vampires could side with us.’ ‘They never would. The vampires are too proud to ask for help that is why they are running wild all over America.’ ‘Mark, if I remeber correctly so aren’t the lycans. Alex has only a few cities under his control.’ ‘That will soon change. We are working on that.’ ‘Mark, Alex will soon come to a bad end. Do you know that Gerhand and Ibrahim are planning to over throw him? Helena isn’t even warning him. They want you to go to the counsel because they know you will protect him.’ ‘What? This is crazy, where did you hear it?’ ‘You know I can read minds. Gerhard can’t cover his thoughts well at all and Ibrahim is to proud to cover his.’ ‘We need to tell Alex.’ Mark said going over to the phone. ‘No, send Yani to him. He is a fierce fighter incase someone comes after him.’ ‘I doubt Alex will trust him. Alex will trust him, I will send him a message.’ Annie said as Mark dialed a number and a few minutes later a teenage boy came into the room. Annie told Yani the plan and he left for London.
Ch 7
The day of the Counsel had finally come. Alex had journeyed to America with Mark, Annie, and several other lycans. He was going to hide out in a safe house until Gerhard and Ibrahim had both been tried for treason and executed. All of their houses would be killed and a message would be sent out that any and all lycans were to be loyal or be killed. The vampires heard of this and feared what would happen if Alex gained back his former power that he had when he first took the lycan throne. Mark had now been appointed second in command to Alex so Annie was now the ruler of Ireland. Everyone involved was happy except those who apposed Alex and they were slowly being killed off. Shane reported all incoming news to Dante who was having a fit, he was very close to waking up Marcus to help prepare the vampire covens for what was to come. The only problem was if Marcus was to be awoken then William would rise and the brothers would battle again. The lycans were the first to arrive in the meeting room, next was the slayers, followed by the Bryne Corporation, and then the vampires. Mark looked coldly at Kian who smirked in satisfaction. Across the table Shane looked to the female slayer sitting next to Camilla and she glared back at him. An older gentleman walked in and put down a briefcase. ‘Hello everyone, I’m Professor Wilson. I have met a few of you during your first days in Salem. The representatives of the White Counsel should be here shortly.’ He set up a power point presentation as two men walked in the door and waited as a women walked in. Everyone stopped what they were doing as she strutted over to a seat and sat down followed by the two men while two others waited at the door. ‘Professor, would you like me to start the introductions?’ The man nodded as she stood up. ‘I’m Kaylee Robbins the only surviving member of the Earth line and I’m the 13th generation in my family so I have any and all powers that my previous ancestors had. I’ll be leading the White Counsel starting on my 21st Birthday which is in 3 years. This is Kris and Blake at the door is Xavier and Walter. We are all trained slayers but Kris and I can light fires with my mind. I can also move things with my mind as can Blake. Any questions?’ ‘No known records of telekinesis and prokinesis in one person have ever been known or proven.’ Nicky said as Roberta scribbled down some notes. ‘I am dead serious. Would you like a demonstration?’ Kaylee asked as Kris gave her a questioning look. ‘Kay, Ruth told us...’ ‘Kris, if we want this to work then we need to be honest and open with everyone here.’ Kaylee looked at Kian and sent him flying into the wall. ‘Holy shit!’ Kian cursed as he slid to the floor. ‘Next time hold on to yea seat.’ Kaylee said using her mind to stand him up. Next she looked as the paper sitting in front of Nicky and the page started to curl before it went up in flames. Everyone in the room sat in their chair speech less. ‘How did yea do that?’ Kian asked as he finally got into a seat. ‘I’ve had the powers my whole life but I’ve managed to control them.’ Kaylee said sitting down as Kris stood up. ‘You’ve all seen Kaylee’s powers. The Black Counsel is trying to reunite and are training their heir to be just as powerful as Kaylee. I think the smart thing would be to join us to fight them and all the American lycan and vampires who are siding with them.’ Professor Wilson brought up a map on his power point. ‘The Black Counsel is forming on the West Coast. They would never move past Nevada because of the White Counsel. I think we should go over some more details before adjourning for 48 hours and letting you all make up your mind.’ ‘Professor, I know the slayers will defiantly support the White Counsel in this endeavor. I wouldn’t want to be on the bad side of Ms. Robbins.’ Kian said as the other slayers agreed. ‘My firm will also voulenteer our services.’ Nicky offered. The Professor nodded as Kaylee smiled. He went through his presentation and then everyone exited the room.
Ch 8
Blake looked to Kris who motioned to Nicky and he nodded. Blake made his way through the crowd and pulled Nicky to the side. ‘Kaylee would like to meet with your people.’ ‘Sure, that would be great.’ ‘We’ll be in touch.’ Blake moved through the crowd and disappeared around the corner with the other men and Kaylee. ‘That was amazing.’ Kian said rubbing his back. ‘Are you ok?’ Camilla asked. ‘I’ll live. This is going to the a battle of a life time.’ Kian said picking up his backpack. ‘Are you sure we’re up for this?’ Tim asked. ‘I think Jacob will be pleased. If all the the witches are as strong as Kaylee we’re in for a good fight.’ ‘Kian, she’s the 13th generation. They are a hybrid, you do know that, don’t you?’ Camilla asked nervously. ‘How is she a hybrid?’ ‘The 13th generation is the strongest, she said it herself. Every 13th generation a witch is born with all the powers of his or her ancestors. The men with her are strong but they could never possess the powers she has.’ ‘Camilla, she could have burned us all up. The counsel obviously needs our help and this is something that I’m not gonna back out on. This is a chance to prove the slayers are still strong. How would you feel if we walked away and missed out on this?’ ‘I wouldn’t do that but we should have at least asked Jacob first.’ ‘I’ll talk to him ok? Let’s go back to the hotel and get something to eat.’ Mark had gone right back to where Alex was hiding out and brought him up to speed as to what happened at the meeting. ‘I must go tomorrow. She must be the most powerful witch born in at least 3 centuries.’ ‘Are you sure it is safe?’ ‘I’ll manage. I am the leader of the lycans so I should announce my decision.’ ‘And that is?’ ‘Too side with the counsel of course. From what I can see in your mind Kaylee is not a force to reckon with.’ ‘You read my thoughts far to easily.’ Mark said laughing. ‘The decedent of Marcus was reading your mind too.’ Raquel said laughing. ‘There was a decadent there?’ ‘Yes, she was close to 300. Your age, Alex.’ Alex looked puzzled. ‘I know who it is. Was she keeping to herself?’ ‘Yea, she never said a word. She took a ton of notes. The only reason I know she is a decedent because her and Shane were arguing with their minds.’ ‘That’s defiantly Lise. She isn’t nearly as strong as her father, he nearly killed me twice.’ ‘Shane doesn’t trust her, he knows how much she wants lycans and vampires to get along.’ Raquel looked at Alex who only shook his head. ‘We haven’t been able to function with lycans since William and Marcus first ruled. Marcus's coven didn’t trust William and since then we have been at odds.’ ‘No on who fought in those battles are still alive or are asleep.’ Mark said as Annie came walking into the room. ‘The counsel is meeting with Nicky Bryne. You could tell Kaylee had the hots for him.’ ‘There meeting with him? For what?’ ‘I’m sure something to due with research or science. That is what his firm specializes in.’ Annie said. ‘This gives me more of a reason to go to the meeting. I need to know everything that is going on. We are going to organize a few groups to go out and find out some information.’ Alex said before going into the next room to talk to the others.
Ch 9
Shane paced in his room waiting for Dante to call him back. Lise was the one who talked to Dante about what happened and he was going to bring the idea to a board to vote on. Almost 4 hours later the phone rang and Shane jumped to answer it. ‘Hello?’ He managed to say calmly. ‘We’ll side with the counsel.’ Dante said still sounding unsure. ‘The board was split up the majority was to go with it. Are you sure this will work?’ ‘The girl had amazing powers. I’d be more worried if we went against her.’ ‘Alright. Call me back after the next meeting and keep a close eye on Lise. She seemed too interested in the lycan.’ ‘Ok.’ ‘Bye.’ Shane smiled to himself as he knocked on the door to his adjoining room. Lise opened the door a few seconds later. ‘Did Dante come to a decision?’ ‘He wants us to go with it.’ ‘Great.’ ‘Dante’s worried about you. He thinks your too fascinated by Mark.’ Lise turned her back to to Shane trying hard to cover the redness that was now in her cheeks. ‘He’s right isn’t he?’ Shane asked raising his voice. ‘No, that’s crazy.’ She said turning as Shane’s cell phone rang. ‘Hello?’ ‘Nicky is in the counsel’s house. The lycans and slayers are out here too.’ ‘And?’ ‘You said to call with any developments.’ ‘He’s a researcher, he isn’t going to make a difference.’ Shane spat. ‘Sorry Sir, I’ll call you with any other news.’ Shane hung up the phone. ‘We’ll finish this later.’ Shane went back into his room slamming the door behind him. He started pacing back and forth. Why was she having this affect on him? She was a witch, she would never get involved with a vampire. Especially one that had his past. Shane was one of the most ruthless vampires in the coven. During battles he never left survivors and most vampires feared him. During his vampiric life he had one had one love, Kassandra, and she had died fighting lycans nearly 100 years before. Kassandra was just like him and they enjoyed taking down a lycan pack just the two of them. Since her death he had killed all lycan packs with any ties to the lycan who killed Kassandra. Shane had personally killed that lycan and had his head mounted in the dungeon of the vampire headquarters. Disgusted with himself Shane grabbed his coat and headed out the door. His guard went to follow him but Shane put up his hand. ‘I need to be alone. Keep watch over Lise.’ Shane walked out of the hotel and down towards the water. Once he found and empty bench he sat down and looked out at Salem Harbor. ‘Damn her.’ He muttered to himself. ‘It’s all part of a plan.’ He said to himself as he felt someone sit next to him. ‘Oh I have a plan?’ Shane jumped as he saw Kaylee sitting next to him.
Ch 10
‘Want to tell it to me?’ Kaylee asked grinning. ‘How do you know I was talking about you?’ Shane asked nervously trying to cover up his thoughts. ‘I can read minds you know. So... what is my plan?’ She said crossing her arms. ‘It’s stupid really.’ Shane said looking away. ‘Ahh.... you think my plan is to make all the guys fall in love with me? That’s funny because both Nicky and Kian are spoken for and Mark is interested in your friend, Lise, so that leaves only you.’ ‘But Nicky was at the house-’ ‘He’s translating old spell books and putting our research library on computers.’ ‘Oh... now I feel really stupid.’ Shane said turning a light shade of red. ‘Are you up for a hunt?’ Kaylee asked standing up. ‘The Professor said-’ ‘No fighting between you guys. He never said anything about the others.’ ‘Where are they?’ ‘In Boston, come on my bike is over here.’ ‘You have a motorcycle?’ ‘It’s Blake’s, I borrow it all the time.’ Kaylee climbed on the bike. Her black pants and her tank top were fitted and showed off her toned body. Shane got on behind her as she started the bike and they took off towards the highway. About 40 minutes later they were in downtown Boston. Kaylee parked her bike in an alley and they made their way into a seedy looking bar. ‘Your human.’ The bouncer said blocking the door. ‘I’m not, she’s with me.’ Shane said putting an arm around her waist. ‘She seems to bold to be a pet.’ ‘That’s cause I’m not.’ Kaylee said as the vampire’s arm caught fire. ‘A witch!’ He managed to get out before the rest of his body caught fire. ‘Nice touch.’ Shane said following her in as a sword appeared in her hand. ‘Choice weapon?’ Kaylee asked. ‘Just this.’ Shane said pulling a dagger out of his belt. Kaylee kicked open the door as several vampires stopped feeding to look at them. ‘Ahh... Robbins has returned and who is this traitor?’ ‘I am no traitor, you are all traitor to the name vampire. You all have refused to pledge allegiance to Dante Kinsford.’ ‘Are you two going to take us all out?’ A young female vampire said jumping onto the bar. ‘Let’s find out.’ Kaylee said raising her sword. As it make connection to vampire flesh it started a fire. Shane took on one side of the bar slashing throats as he went. Kaylee finished off her side and started a fire of those already injured vampires as Shane finished off the last two. ‘That was fun.’ Kaylee said as her sword disappeared. ‘A slight challenge, I haven’t had to fight my own kind in a while.’ Shane said as they walked out leaving the bar to go up in flames as they got back on the bike. ‘I’m going to tire you out. We can do this again another night.’ Kaylee said smirking. ‘I’m not tired out.’ Shane said breathing heavily as Kaylee raised an eyebrow. ‘Ok, maybe just a little.’ Kaylee smiled to herself as she started the bike. When they got back to Salem Kaylee dropped Shane off outside of the hotel then went back to the coven house.
Ch 11
When Kaylee walked through the door her guards were waiting for her. ‘You went with him alone?’ Blake said as Ruth appeared behind him. ‘Kaylee, this is just not acceptable. Something terrible could have happened.’ ‘We handled the situation well. I wanted to see Shane’s abilities.’ ‘What if he turned on you?’ ‘He knows my abilities.’ Kaylee said. ‘Follow me.’ Kaylee followed Ruth to her office as she closed the door. ‘Sit down please, we need to talk about your future.’ Kaylee sat down in the chair as Ruth sat at her desk. ‘You know that I love you like my own child and I truly want the best for you. In three short years you will take over leadership of the Coven. It is not law but tradition that the leader be married. I asked for my nephew to be your guard hoping that a romance would bloom between you two.’ ‘Ruth, Kristopher is a great guy but-’ ‘Hear me out first. Kris is in love with you. Hearing about tonight’s events broke his heart. You may not have feelings for Kris now but would you please give this relationship a try? He is the best suited mate for you.’ ‘This is a lot to take in. Kris is my guard and having a relationship my jeopardize that.’ ‘I have arranged for Blake to take over as head of your security and for some reason if this does not work out Kris will spend some time visiting the London house.’ Kaylee nodded. ‘I will do as you ask. If I do not feel anything within two weeks time will I be allowed to choose my own partner?’ ‘As you wish.’ Ruth said. ‘I would also like to meet with the vampires, lycans and slayer after the meeting. Not at the same time and of course not in the coven house. I may arrange something at the hotel.’ ‘Ok, let me know if I can help you with anything.’ ‘You are excused.’ Kaylee nodded and headed towards her room. ‘Blake, congrats on your promotion.’ Kaylee said tossing him the keys to his bike. ‘You really need to stop stealing these.’ He said laughing. ‘I should get my own. Maybe you can talk Ruth into letting me have one.’ Kaylee said before walking into her room. Shane walked back into his room to see Lise standing by the window. ‘Did you have fun with your new obsession?’ She asked. ‘In fact I did. She’s a great fighter.’ He said tossing his jacket on the bed. ‘Dante called and when I told him you were with her he seemed very pleased.’ ‘I’ll talk to him tomorrow. I have some thinking to do.’ ‘More like day dreaming.’ Lise tossed a photo on the bed. ‘I found this for yea. Enjoy.’ She walked back to her room as Shane looked at the photo. ‘Why must you be a witch?’ He asked himself as he walked to the window.
Ch 12
Those two days passed by slowly. Kaylee made no contact with Shane and when he saw her with Kris he almost lost control. ‘What is she doing with him?’ He asked Lise who was walking next to him. ‘Maybe he is her betrothed.’ She said shrugging. ‘He-he is too clean cut for her. Look, you can tell she doesn’t want to be with him.’ Shane muttered. ‘Calm down, she’ll hear you.’ Lise said hitting his arm. At the meeting everyone else offered their allegiance. Kaylee set up meetings for everyone with her people and set up a training schedule that would be a mix of all the groups. Kaylee walked around the corner and bumped into Shane. ‘Hi Shane, how yea been?’ She said smiling. ‘Where’s your boyfriend?’ He asked leaving against the wall. ‘Kris, is not my boyfriend as much as everyone in the coven house thinks he is.’ Kaylee said shrugging. ‘Are you free tonight?’ She asked. ‘I have a meeting in a few minutes but after that I’m free.’ ‘Great, meet me at the wharf when your done.’ With that Kaylee walked off towards the coven house. Shane smiling to himself as he walked into the hotel. Lise, Dante, and a few other vampires were gathered in his room. ‘Finally, where have you been?’ Dante asked. ‘He’s been talking to his girlfriend.’ Lise joked. ‘She’s not my girlfriend.’ Shane said sitting at the table. ‘Shane, it’s not the best idea to get involved with the witch.’ Dante said looking up from his notes. She just nodded. ‘Ok, let’s get on with the business. Our training day in Tuesday and Thursday nights. My idea is that we pick our most able fighters and they will train the rest. Shane, how is her fighting abilities?’ ‘She is amazing, Kaylee is very strong and can handle a whole coven house on her own.’ Shane said as the others sat in amazement. ‘Is she really that good?’ One of the guys asked. ‘Like I said, she is. We’re gonna go out hunting tonight.’ ‘I think I should tag along to see how this goes.’ Dante said as the other agreed. After the meeting was over Shane ushered everyone out of his room and got ready to go out. At 10 he arrived at Pickering Warfe with Dante and Lise following a couple of feet behind him. ‘Kaylee, you remember Lise and Dante from earlier.’ Shane said as they caught up with him. ‘So...you want to see how my powers are when I’m hunting?’ Kaylee said smirking.
Ch 13
Luckily Kaylee brought a car. They all got in and Kaylee took off for the highway. Kaylee had a biker bar just over the boarder in New Hampshire picked out. When they arrived the bar was extremely busy. Date and Lise went in ahead of them and Kaylee opened the trunk grabbing her sword. 'Ready?' She asked as she pulled her hair into a messy ponytail. 'Very much so.' Kaylee started towards the door Shane walked in ahead of her. 'You!' A man said getting up and looking at Kaylee. 'What?' She asked. 'You are the heiress to the throne of the White Counsel. You can't be here.' He said pulling out a wand. 'That is just so cute.' She said laughing. 'You need a wad. Do you really think that will do anything to me?' She asked before snapping it in half with her mind. 'Crap, Sid and Robby get her.' Kaylee pulled out her sword and took them down as Shane started fighting a few others. Dante and Lise stood at the bar watching in amusement. 'Shane, your slowing up in your old age.' Date said laughing. 'Very funny.' She said tossing a guy against the wall as Kaylee set him on fire. She finished off the last two before setting the rest of the bar on fire. 'Very impressive.' Date said extending his hand. 'Thanks.' 'Filan, you need some work.' Lise said grinning. Shane shot her a look. 'We'll be going. You too have a fun night.' Dante said walking towards the road. 'Here, take the car.' Kaylee said tossing him the keys. 'Thanks. We'll see you two later.' Dante said getting into the car. 'What now?' Shane asked. 'Let's go hit some night spots.' Kaylee said walking over to a motor cycle holding up some keys. 'I'm just curious about something.' Shane said as Kaylee started the bike. 'What?' 'How does the elders feel about you spending time with me?' 'They don't like it but that doesn't stop me.' She said smirking. 'I have three years before I need to start making the "right" choices.' She said as they took off for the high way. After about 20 minutes they pulled up to a large beachfront house. Shane looked at Kaylee questionably as she unlocked the door and they went inside. 'What is this place?' 'My family's old summer house. I've spent my free time fixing it up as an escape from The Coven House.' Kaylee said turning on a light and walking into the living room. 'How did your meeting go today?' 'Ok, it was about you mostly.' 'Ah… how I love to be the topic of everyone's discussions.' Kaylee said laughing as she motioned for Shane to sit down next to her. 'What about us? I know they asked you about that.' Kaylee asked with a smirk. 'Lise has been on my case about that since the meeting.' Shane said nervously. 'Calm down.' He thought to himself. He was never nervous, but then again she was the first woman to get under his skin in centuries.
Ch 14
'Ah…. I make you nervous.' Kaylee asked grinning as Shane turned a dark shade of red. 'Well, I'm hoping we can make an appearance together at the Witches Ball for Halloween in two weeks. I want each group to bring someone of a different group. This will help unify everyone.' 'Are you sure that's a good idea? Some of us are still unpredictable.' 'I have a feeling everything will go well.' Kaylee said taking Shane's hand. 'What do think about being my date?' She asked. 'I think us going together is a good idea but some of the other groups-' 'Don't worry about that. I'll make sure everything is sorted out and is ok. Now comes the question of what we're going to dress like.' Kaylee said grinning. 'It's a costume party?' Shane groaned. 'Yea, I actually chose the theme this year, it's famous couples.' 'I'm leaving this up to you because I know nothing about this sort of thing.' Shane said as Kaylee smiled. 'Ok, I'll get some ideas then I'll arrange for a shop to stay open late for us. I just really love this time of year, Salem is just so fun to be in from September to Halloween. The best time of year.' 'It is the Wiccan New Year. It's also a good time us year for us as well as lycans.' 'Have you been to any of the haunted houses?' 'No way, that is not my type of thing.' 'They are quiet good actually, one almost scared me last year.' Kaylee said cracking a smile. 'Can I ask you something?' 'Sure.' 'Is it socially ok for vampires to date or be seen with humans?' 'Mostly it is just to choose a fledgling but once and awhile it will happen. I'm surprised you didn't know that.' 'I knew about the fledgling part but I always wondered…' Kaylee trailed off as she leaned over to kiss Shane. As their lips met it sent shocks through both of their bodies. A few seconds later they moved apart breathless. 'Wow…' Kaylee stammered. 'Yea.' Shane said smiling. 'Let's go check out the nightlife.' Kaylee said standing up. They walked down the beach until the boardwalk started then they blended in with all the other couples walking and holding hands.
Ch 15
Ellie walked off the plan in Boston sighing as she looked for the direction of the baggage claim. 'Damn him.' She muttered to herself as she trudged to the other side of the airport to pick up her bags. Luckily she arranged for a car to drive her to Salem since she would be at a loss on how to get there from Boston. About 40 minutes later she walked into the lobby of the Sheraton Ferncroft. 'Hi, I'm here to see Mr. Nicholas Bryne room 510.' 'Mr. Bryne just left a few moments ago.' 'Do you know where he was going? I'm his girlfriend and I'm here to surprise him-' 'I'm sorry but I can't give out that information. If you'd like a room we have several available.' Ellie pulled out her cell phone and called Nicky but got his answer machine. 'Shit, I guess I'll have to take a room for now until I can track him down.' Ellie filled out the paperwork and her bags were brought to her room. 'Can I have a cab to downtown Salem please?' She asked. 'Sure, there are two waiting outside.' 'Thanks.' Ellie got into the cab and hoped she'd be able to find Nicky. 15 minutes the cab stopped outside a shop. 'Excuse me sir, do you know where the White Counsel's house is?' 'I don't but someone in that shop over there can point you in the right direction.' 'Thank you.' Ellie crossed the street and went into the store. She was about to ask for directions when her phone rang. 'Hello?' 'Hi babe.' Nicky said. 'Oh Nicky, where are you? I'm in Salem inside The Crow Haven Corner.' 'I'm actually right around the corner. I just checked out the Pirate Museum. I'll meet you outside.' Ellie walked to the door and waited for Nicky. ‘I missed you.’ She said hugging him as he turned the corner. ‘How have things been going?’ ‘Good, I’ve learned a lot. The White Counsel has let me into their coven house and let me put all of their records on computers.’ ‘Sounds a little bit boring.’ ‘No, they have so much history. I also kind of signed on to train with the Council.’ ‘Train for what?’ ‘Battle.’ ‘I don’t get it.’ ‘The White Counsel’s heir to the throne is a 13th generation witch. 13th generation witches are extremely powerful and posses all of the powers their ancestors have. As it turns out the Black Counsel also have a 13th generation witch as heir to their throne. All of the lycan and vampires are choosing sides and sometime soon the two sides are going to fight.’ ‘No way, your not going to-’ ‘Ellie, I’m already training. The lycans and vampires from Europe are training too. Once you see how powerful Kaylee is you’ll see why.’ ‘This is so dangerous. I knew you shouldn’t have come alone.’ ‘I didn’t come alone.’ ‘You know what I mean. Your father or I should have come with you so you’ll think a little bit more rationally.’ ‘Ellie, this is going to be the most important battle the world has ever seen. These two counsel’s haven’t fought since they split and that was centuries ago. Come on, I’m going to the coven house you can meet everyone.’ Ellie followed Nicky down the street. She knew that arguing with him wasn’t going to get them anywhere.
Ch 16
They arrived at the coven house about 10 minutes later. Ruth came down the stairs smiling. ‘Hello Nicky, you must by Ellie. We’ve heard all about you. Everyone is downstairs in the training room.’ ‘Thanks.’ Nicky and Ellie went down the side stairs into the basement which was a huge training room. ‘Hi Nicky.’ Kaylee said walking over. ‘Hi Kaylee, this is my girlfriend Ellie.’ ‘Nice to meet you. If you guys want to take a seat at the table I’m going to go over the plans for the Witches Ball.’ After a few more guests arrived Kaylee started the meeting. ‘As you all know the Witches Ball is in less then 2 weeks. You are all invited but I am assigning dates. We have all been getting along great but I think this will help relations. So you all don’t hate me you only have to stay with your date for the first half of the night. Every group will be mixed. I’m going to post the list and no complaints please. I’ll give you a few minutes to speak with you date. I’m also going to have a costume store open late for us two nights this week. And I should mention the ball has a theme, famous couples.’ Kaylee posted the list and moved to the side as everyone rushed to see who they were going with. ‘That’s convenient.’ Lise joked seeing Shane and Kaylee’s name at the top of the list. ‘We’re setting an example.’ Shane said grinning. ‘Look who your with.’ Shane said laughing. Lise grinned as she saw her name next to Mark. ‘We’re together right?’ Camilla asked Kian as he shook his head no. ‘I’m with Raquel and your with Dante.’ Nicky stepped up to see his name next to Annie. ‘Ellie, your name’s not on this list because I wasn’t expecting you so you can tag along with Kris.’ Everyone was separated about the idea. A few of them enjoyed the idea while most hated it but were too afraid to bring it up to Kaylee. ‘I I have asked two costume stores to stay open late for us tonight and tomorrow night so everyone can get their costumes. also have a seamstress coming here tomorrow and the next day to make alterations to costumes. We’re going to split up into training groups. Each person will be working with their partner so they can get to know them better. Today we’re working on psychic defense. Kris and myself will be working with our partners for a few minutes while everyone looks over the paper work then we’ll do a demonstration before walking around to help everyone. Any questions?’ Everyone shook their heads no and got together with their partner.
Ch 17
In Providence two witches sat at a table laughing over drinks. ‘Do they really think that girl is going to take down Trina? Trina has been training since she was born.’ ‘Mom, enough.’ A girl about Kaylee’s age said walking over with a big looking guy behind her. Trina was the heir to the Black Counsel. She was the 13th witch in her line as was Kaylee. Her hair was died black and her eyes were hazel but hidden under dark eye make-up. ‘Trina, you are stronger then Kaylee.’ ‘Mother, you know nothing about her powers! Rodney managed to escape an attack on a biker bar in new Hampshire.’ ‘Speak, lycan.’ ‘She came in with three vampires all from Europe. Dante was one of them as well as a decedent of Corvinus. Within minutes she had taken down half of the bar. I managed to escape through a window in the bathroom.’ ‘She let you escape, so that you could tell us of her powers. Why did you not fight her?’ ‘I would not have stood a chance. She is a fierce fighter as was the vampire who was fighting with her.’ ‘His name?’ ‘Shane Filan.’ ‘I knew it. He is Dante’s second in command.’ ‘They seemed cozy.’ Rodney added. ‘Ahh... she has fallen in love with a vampire. So unlike her kind, just like her mother. We need to get Filan on our side and it will make her weak.’ ‘Chrissy, when we did that to her mother it worked but I doubt she’ll fall for that. We need someone in there finding out there plans.’ ‘What of the lycans that are working with her?’ ‘I doubt any can be trusted.’ ‘Then you must find a way in. Trina, find a spell to change Rodney into one of them. We’ll capsure one of them and he can take their place.’ Trina nodded as she walked out of the bar with Rodney following close behind her. After a short walk they arrived in a run down looking house. Trina walked in the door and right down the stairs. Several other witches were gathered in the basement going through supplies. ‘Leave me.’ Trina said coldly as the others hurried up the stairs. Trina pulled out a large book and sat on the floor looking for the right spell.
Ch 18
The Halloween Ball came quickly. Kaylee had everything in order and the area was covered in high security. As a way to bond Kaylee invited all the girls over to the coven house to get ready. ‘This place is amazing.’ Ellie said looking around the large bedroom Kaylee had. ‘It is, it’s still hard to believe that I live here. Once in awhile I start walking back to my old house until I realize that Tabitha is gone.’ ‘Tabitha was the women who raised you, right?’ Lise asked. ‘Yea, The Counsel said she helped arrange my mother’s death so she could train me in dark magick.’ ‘They wanted to use you as their heir?’ Raquel asked. ‘No, she used to talk about an heir but they didn’t want her to be opposed.’ ‘Her name is Trina. Kian has a file on her back at the hotel. One of the men that used to work in our group grew up with her. He was a nice guy, it was a sad day when a lycan took him out.’ Camilla said fixing her hair. ‘What does the file say?’ ‘Not much, she’s the same age as you and her family is from Providence, Rhode Island. It had more information about her mother. I’ll bring a copy by some time tomorrow.’ Kaylee nodded as the girls went back to fussing over their costumes, make-up, and hair. Back at the hotel the guys were also getting ready but in their own rooms. They were going to be picked up by a limo to meet the girls at the coven house in about an hour. Everyone but Mark met in the lobby in time. He came rushing down the stairs two minutes later looking very shaken up. ‘Are you ok?’ Kian asked as Mark managed a nod. When they arrives at the coven house Mark went right to his sister and told her about what happened. ‘Annie, these lycans were American. I managed to get away but I know they’ll be back.’ ‘We need to tell Kaylee. Come on.’ After Kaylee was informed several guards were sent out to patrol the area and the elders were informed. ‘Are you sure it’s safe to go on with the ball?’ Ellie asked. ‘Nothing is going to stop it. This has been a tradition for centuries. If anything is to happen we’ll be well protected. I personally created a protection spell that will be cast on everyone entering the ball and it will also prevent any form of violence.’
Ch 19
Trina sat in the car across the street from the Hawthorne hotel watching everyone enter the ball. ‘That’s it. I can’t wait any longer.’ She got out of the car slamming a door and walked across the busy street as two limos pulled up to the hotel. A grin crossed her face as she saw Kaylee getting out of the limo. Kaylee felt someone staring at her and turned as her eyes locked with Trina. ‘Guys go inside. I have something to take care of.’ Kaylee said as her guards ushered everyone inside. ‘I think it’s about time that we should meet.’ Trina said extending her hand as Kaylee gave her a look of disgust. ‘How dare you enter Salem! This is a party that your kind is never invited to.’ ‘How you insult me, but you forget that you were raised as one of us. You have the ability to conjure and use the dark powers.’ ‘I never had the will to use them like you have. You hands are covered in blood of innocent people.’ ‘Like you haven’t killed before.’ ‘I killed only to save my people.’ ‘Oh your people. You talk as though the White Counsel has never done anything wrong. They exiled us!’ ‘Because your house was using magick against others instead of to help people.’ ‘You mean to tell me that you never used magick against someone.’ ‘Only to defend myself.’ Kaylee looked at her shoes as a wand appeared in her hand. ‘Do you really want to challenge me? I’m much more experienced then you are.’ Trina said as a wand also appeared in her hand. Both girls held their wands out and muttered an incantation Trina was pushed backwards and fell to the ground. ‘Ladies, let’s save this for another time.’ Kris said ushering Kaylee into the lobby of the hotel as Trina dusted herself off and walked back to the car.
Ch 20
‘You could have gotten yourself killed.’ Kris said as Kaylee glared at him. ‘I was ready to face her and I would have won if you didn’t stop me.’ She gritted. ‘What the hell just happened?’ Dante asked walking over to the group. ‘Kaylee and Trina had a little battle outside.’ Kris said as everyone began talking amongst themselves. ‘Kaylee, are you ok?’ Shane asked. ‘Yea, I’m fine. Kris shouldn’t have butted in this was my chance to prove my powers to Trina.’ ‘Kaylee, tonight is not the time to battle with her. Trina is much more experienced then you and she could kill you.’ Kris said pulling Kaylee away and over to a group of elders. ‘She got in over her head.’ Lise said to Shane. ‘Kaylee, has limitless powers. I think she could have handled herself.’ ‘This is crazy. I would have loved to have seen that.’ Kian said to Camilla. ‘Everyone let’s make our way into the ballroom. Kaylee will join us later.’ Kris said rejoining to the group. With a few grumbles everyone entered the large ballroom with their date for the night. Shane looked at Lise who was all smiles as Mark pointed out some of the decorations. He looked over to Raquel and Kian who were sitting at a table making small talk. A few minutes later Kaylee came walking into the ballroom still looking upset. ‘Is everything ok?’ Shane asked as they sat at a table. ‘I guess so, I just wish they would trust me a little bit more.’ Kaylee muttered playing with the material of her dress. ‘Who are you two suppose to be? Shane’s in a normal outfit of all black.’ Dante asked sitting down with Camilla not far behind. ‘Baby and Johnny from Dirty Dancing.’ Kaylee said laughing at Dante’s knight costume. ‘And you two are?’ ‘Shane, it’s obvious we’re Arthur and Guinevere .’ Dante said hitting his arm. ‘I like Kian and Raquel’s costumes.’ Kaylee said. ‘Yea, that’s interesting they are suppose to be Sandy and Danny from Grease.’ Shane said. ‘Look at Lise and Mark.’ Dante said as the other’s turned. ‘I haven’t seen her this happy in a long time.’ Shane said. ‘I love her costume, Romeo and Juliet is still my favorite play.’ Kaylee said as the DJ encouraged everyone to join the dance floor.
Ch 21
The rest of the ball went on without any problems. By the end of the night everyone had gotten to know their dates really well and several strong friendships were formed. Kris and several of the guards had monitored the area and Trina had left hours ago. Kaylee was still upset about Kris pulling her away from a good fight. After everyone went their separate ways after the ball Shane followed Kaylee to the edge of Salem. Out of a small wooded area came five lycans with Trina following them. ‘Look boys, it’s my favorite Salem witch.’ Trina sneered as the lycans approached. Shane was about to come out of the shadows when someone grabbed his arm. When he turned to look he was suprised to see Kian standing there. ‘What are you doing?’ Shane gritted. ‘I followed you. I had a gut feeling something was up. I just called for backup so everyone should be here soon.’ Shane turned quickly as a lycan pinned him to the ground. ‘Oh if it isn’t your little lover boy and a slayer. I have to admit Kaylee, you do have good taste in men.’ Trina said as a lycan also pinned Kian to the ground. Within moments Kian had killed the lycan that attacked him as well as two others. Shane had stabbed the lycan with his silver dagger forcing him back into his human form. They fought for a few minutes before Shane stabbed him in the heart. Kaylee and Trina were now only a few feet apart. ‘Come on, no one is here to stop us.’ Trina said drawing her wand as Kaylee did the same. Before Kaylee could move Trina cast a quick spell causing Shane and Kian to become unconscious. ‘The fight is between us. Why are you attacking them?’ Kaylee said as her blood began to boil. ‘Their presence was bothering me.’ Kaylee muttered a spell as Trina went flying against a tree and hung in the air. ‘Am I a worthy opponent now?’ Kaylee asked before saying another spell as Trina’s wand came into her free hand. ‘Damn you.’ Trina said glaring at Kaylee as the others arrived. Kris revived Shane and Kian before the elders bound Trina’s magick and took her away. ‘Kaylee, you shouldn’t have went looking for Trina but you have proved yourself many times over. I am proud of you.’ Ruth said hugging her
Ch 22
The next few days went by uneventful but a week after the ball Ruth called everyone for a meeting. ‘The Black Counsel and it’s allies are coming for Trina. Myself, Sandra, and Thomas are taking Trina to the secret coven house to be guarded by ourselves and several other elders. Everyone that has been training with Kaylee will be Salem’s main protectors. All other sets of guards will follow your leads. We are leaving right now, they should be here in a few hours.’ Ruth said taking Kaylee’s hands. ‘Good luck. I have faith in you.’ She said before leaving everyone in panic. ‘Ok, this is my plan. Everyone is going to have a buddy. Since we have been training with your date from the ball this person is your buddy. We will be divided into our usual groups. Kris’s group will take the western part of the city. Blake’s group will take the eastern part and my group will take the center. Kris’s group needs to be mindful that their area is mostly houses and Blake’s area is near the college so there will be a lot of people there. My area is the center of town and since it will be late most people will not be around. Let’s suet up and grab your weapons of choice.’ Kaylee said as everyone quickly went to get ready. ‘Holy crap, this is amazing.’ Nicky said looking at the room full of weapons. ‘Nicky, I have no idea on how to use any of these.’ Ellie said tears starting to form in her eyes. ‘Your with Kris’s group I’m sure you won’t even need anything he’ll take care of everyone on his own.’ He said grabbing a sword and then a bow and arrows. ‘I don’t want to be separated from you.’ Ellie said grabbing Nicky’s arm. ‘Ellie, it’s important to follow Kaylee’s orders. If you were worried about this situation then you should have went home after the ball.’ He said heading out the door. ‘Damn him.’ Ellie said grabbing a dagger. Camilla and Kian were having a similar argument. ‘We should be together.’ She said as Kian hurried to put all of his weapons on his belt. ‘Camilla, we are in separate groups. You are Dante’s partner and are in Blake’s group, what would you like me to do?’ ‘Kaylee is going to need more help. It’s you, her, Shane, Raquel, Mark, Lise, Nicky and Annie. Nicky has no fighting experience-’ ‘Camilla, let’s just follow orders. We need to listen to Kaylee.’ ‘What if-’ ‘Don’t worry.’ Kian said giving her a quick kiss before going to check on the other slayers.
Ch 23
An hour later Blake and Kris’s groups had already left and were patrolling their areas. Everyone was in the center of town as Kaylee was on the top of a nearby building watching for the Black Counsel. She saw sparks in the sky near Kris’s area that was a signal that they were battling. Sparks soon followed in Blake’s area, so far none were sparks for back-up. Kaylee headed back to the ground and not long after a large group of witches, vampires, and lycans started approaching. Her group formed a quick line and got ready to fight. Kaylee cast a quick spell that sent silver bullets into the first line of lycans and set fire to the second line which was vampires. ‘Very impressive.’ A women said stepping up, she looked a lot like Trina. ‘Where is my daughter?’ ‘Long gone, you’ll never find her.’ Kaylee said sending her wand across the street. ‘Silly girl.’ She said before knocking her onto the ground. Lycans and vampires came charging at the group. Raquel, Mark, and Annie changed forms and began to fight. Shane and Lise bared their fangs and started fighting. Shane was suprised to see how quick Lise worked with a sword. Kaylee struggled to get up as she sent another surge of power her way. Kaylee muttered a counter-spell as the women was pushed back so she could get up off the ground. Nicky saw Kaylee having a hard time and aimed an arrow at the women’s shoulder. He let out a sigh of relief when it hit her taking away from her concentration enough to Kaylee could gain control. Within two minutes Kaylee had bound her magick as well as two other witches who were with her. Kris and Blake’s groupd arrived just as their fight finished. Anyone the Black Counsel sent into Salem had been taken care of.
Ch 24
Two days later the elders contacted Kaylee. Trina had escaped, she had someone unbound her powers and disappeared. Kaylee went right to work filling everyone in as to what happened before grabbing her wand and leaving to find Trina. Kris gathered everyone else and tried hard to track Kaylee but she was moving fast. ‘We should split up.’ Shane said. ‘Good idea. We’ll break up into 3 groups. Shane, Dante, Kian, and Camilla with me. Blake will take Nicky, Ellie, Lise, and Raquel. Thomas will take Mark, Annie, and the back up crew. My group is going towards the college. Blake take the area around the water and Thomas will go downtown. If you don’t find her started towards the college. If you need back up send up sparks, red ones. Kaylee can handle Trina on her own, we need to secure the area make sure no civilians are in the area.’ Everyone went their separate ways. After doing a quick check on their areas Blake and Thomas’s teams started towards the college. Kris was getting nervous as was everyone else. ‘Kris, look out!’ Kian yelled as a lycan came running at him. Kian grabbed his dagger and ran over to help Kris who was struggling to get the lycan off him without getting bite or scratched. He stabbed the lycan who changed back into his human form. Camilla turned before another lycan came at her. She moved fast and quickly shot her and she changed back into her human form. Shane saw a lighting bolt in the sky coming from the school parking lot. ‘It’s Kaylee.’ Shane said before running down the hill to help Kaylee. Trina was in the air sending objects flying at Kaylee. She spotted Shane and sent a bolt of fire his way but Kaylee quickly deflected it sending it back at Trina. Trina shielded herself as Kaylee started her attack on Trina.
Ch 25
Shane stood there in shock. When he reached the parking lot Kaylee was in the ground barely able to defend herself against Trina who seemed to have gained a lot more power since their last meeting. Kris showed up a few moments later telling Shane to get back. The fight got more intense as both girls seemed to be loosing energy. All of the others arrived as did some followers of the Black Counsel. Everyone was fighting and Trina seemed to be gaining power from somewhere. Kaylee turned to see Shane laying lifelessly on the ground. ‘What did you do to him!’ Kaylee screamed as anger took over and she seemed to have gained a lot more power. ‘He’ll be dead by the time you get to him.’ Trina sneered. Kaylee noticed a charm bag in her hand and quickly pulled it towards herself. ‘No!’ Trina yelled as a huge burst of energy exploded along with Trina. Kaylee ran to Shane’s side as she started crying the tears fell on his hand and he slowly started to move. ‘Kaylee, what happened?’ ‘Shane, I thought I lost you.’ She said hugging him. Kris came walking over. ‘Kaylee, there are some injured. I already did what I can but I need your help.’ ‘Kris, stay with Shane.’ Kaylee got up and make her way over to the injured. Mark had lost a lot of blood, a silver blade had cut into an artery. Kaylee put her wand out and started muttering a healing spell. Within moments the silver was drawn out of his blood and the wound was closed. Next Kaylee went over to Camilla who had gotten bitten by a lycan. Kaylee used her magick to counter the bite of the lycan and then closed the bite. Last there was Nicky who was bitten by a vampire and was on the verge of changing. ‘Nicky, hold on. You need to fight the change.’ Kaylee said before calling Blake over. ‘Do you have your herbal bag?’ He handed over a bag of herbs. Kaylee grabbed some garlic and put it over the vampire bite. ‘Kaylee, be careful your going to kill him.’ Blake said as Nicky started screaming in pain. ‘He may be to far to cure. You need to help me draw out the disease.’ Blake took out his wand and took Kaylee’s free hand as they both started to chant. It seemed like forever until Nicky finally came back to life. ‘Kaylee, that was amazing. You didn’t need me.’ Blake said helping her up but she fell onto the ground. ‘Kris, it’s Kaylee!’ Blake yelled as he came running over. ‘Kaylee, you need to wake up.’ Kris said shaking her a tears poured down his face. ‘Blake, you need to get the elders.’ ‘Let me, I can change forms and make it there faster.’ Raquel said walked over. ‘Go fast.’ Blake said she quickly changed forms and ran back to the coven house. ‘All the the witches over here now. Make a circle around her. She channeled to much energy to fast. We need to give her some energy or she’ll die.’ Kris said.
Ch 26
The group started to channel their power but nothing seemed to work. The elders arrived a few moments later and they began trying to heal her. ‘Kris, we can only do some much. She is going to die.’ Sandra said hugging him as he sobbed. ‘I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I told her to heal everyone.’ He said sitting on the ground grabbing her not cold hand. ‘Let me.’ Shane said walked over. ‘Shane, no. You love her to much, plus your too weak.’ Dante said walking over. ‘No way, your not going to change her.’ Kris said glaring at Shane. ‘Kris, we both love her. Would you rather see her die?’ ‘I would never want her to be a vampire.’ ‘Kris, there is a way. Kaylee’s magick is so strong that it would bound with the vampiric disease and become a hybrid. She’d only be half vampire.’ Sandra said as Dante nodded. ‘She’ll still be able to walk in the day. None of us has been able to do so in centuries. Not since Lise’s decedents, not since the first vampires.’ ‘Dante, you need to change her and fast.’ Shane said going over to her other side. Dante kneeled beside her as Kris moved away. ‘If she resents someone it will not be me.’ Kris said walking away because he couldn’t bare to watch the change. Dante bared his fangs before biting into Kaylee’s neck. She let out a sigh as he drained most of her blood before offering her his wrist. Kaylee weakly took it as she squeezed Shane’s hand. ‘That’s it, Kaylee, drink up.’ Dante said. A few moments later he moved away as her change slowly started. It wasn’t a major change but all the bruises on her arms healed as well as a few scratches. ‘Shane, are you ok?’ She said sitting up. ‘I’m fine, love.’ He said hugging her. ‘Are you sure, you were pretty beaten up.’ ‘I have already healed. How do you feel?’ ‘Like new, thank you for not letting me die. You too, Dante.’ Kris stood back tears still rolling down his cheeks. When he noticed her watching him her turned his back to her and walked away. ‘Kris, wait.’ Kaylee said getting up and walking towards him. ‘I can’t even look at you.’ He said walking faster. ‘Kris, I know you didn’t want me to end up like this but it’s my choice.’ ‘Kaylee, I love you too much to see you living like that. I just can’t be here right now.’ Kris said walking away and Kaylee let him go.
Ch 27
To the surprise of the vampires Kaylee had no cravings for blood but only picked up their keen senses and their healing abilities. Kris left the coven house leaving for Europe even though Blake tried to talk him out of it. Blake took over as Kaylee’s head of security and now a few lycans and vampires joined the team. Nicky who had Kaylee to thank for his life went back to Europe with Ellie. Mark stayed around as did Lise, Raquel, Annie, and Shane. Kian and Camilla left with the slayers and tracked a few remaining followers of the Black Counsel down the East Coast of America before going to California for a well deserved break. Dante stayed around for a while before leaving to go back home. ‘Dante, thank you.’ Kaylee said hugging him as he waited for his private plane to arrive at the small air base outside of Salem. ‘You deserved to live, you are an amazing witch. You saved so many lives that night and didn’t even think about yourself.’ ‘What do you think will happen to me?’ ‘To tell you the truth I don’t know. Eventually you may develop the thirst but considering your self control it may never happen.’ Dante squeezed her hand as he walked over to Shane. ‘I’m leaving you in control over here.’ ‘The whole country?’ ‘Yes, I’ll send someone to Canada and South America but this is all yours.’ ‘Thank you.’ ‘Hell you deserve it. You were practically ruling Europe because of my laziness. It’s time I rule the way I should have, I’ve learned a lot from Kaylee.’ Dante said his final goodbyes before going to his plane. After some weeks had past Mark was itching to get out of the city. ‘Mark, go. It’s ok here. We can find you if anything happens.’ ‘I just need to run free. Where should I go?’ ‘I’d say Canada. It’s dangerous because of hunters but if you find a well protected area you should be ok.’ Kaylee looked to Lise who’s heart seemed to be breaking. ‘I’ll go with you.’ She said suddenly. ‘You will?’ ‘I can watch out when you change forms.’ ‘That sounds like a good plan.’ Everyone said good-bye as they left and things in Salem finally settled down the way it used to be.
